As a land deeply imbued with the marks of the nation’s history, Da Nang is home to dozens of National Historical Sites, each a testament to the heroic victories and steadfast spirit of generations past.

Ky Anh Tunnels
In the sun-drenched and wind-swept Central region, Da Nang City stands as a convergence of cultural and historical depth — a place that has witnessed the footsteps of generations who expanded the nation’s frontiers and built its foundations. From the prehistoric Sa Huynh Culture, through the prosperous Champa Kingdom, to the integration with the Dai Viet civilization, this land symbolizes the blending, adaptation, and continuous growth of Vietnamese culture. Throughout every period of national defense, Da Nang has remained a frontline stronghold, a witness to glorious victories and the unyielding courage of its people. This enduring historical flow has given rise to a dense system of relics that vividly reflect the journey of the Vietnamese nation’s formation, defense, and development.

Hai Van Gate – National Historical and Architectural Site
To date, Da Nang City (new administrative boundary) has 49 sites recognized as National Historical Sites, spanning from urban to rural areas, from the coast to the mountains. Each site serves as a living testament to a specific period in the country’s history, while also reflecting the customs, beliefs, livelihood, and creativity of the local people.

The Yen Craft Ancestral Temple
Beyond their historical value, many of these sites also possess unique architectural and artistic beauty and embody profound humanistic values. They are closely associated with historical figures and local heroes from this land of “spiritual vitality and talented people,” contributing to the rich cultural identity and pride of today’s Da Nang.

Amid modern life, these heritage sites have become “red addresses” on Da Nang’s tourism map. Visitors not only rediscover the glorious memories of their ancestors but also draw inspiration, national pride, and respect for the past. Many sites organize engaging experiential activities such as guided tours, documentary screenings, and cultural festivals tied to the sites themselves. These experiences allow visitors not just to “see” history, but to “live” it — feeling the enduring strength, unyielding will, and cultural continuity passed down through generations.
