With this perspective of pushing cinema beyond boundaries, director Pham Thien An, winner of the Caméra d’Or at Cannes 2023, will serve as a member of the Jury for the Asian Competition section at the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV).
Born in 1989, Pham Thien An is a Vietnamese director and screenwriter. Originally working in information technology, he later found his path into cinema through informal film-viewing sessions with friends at home.
Pham Thien An became widely recognized through his feature film Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell. The film premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival and won the Caméra d’Or for Best First Feature.
With the experience of an independent filmmaker who developed projects from short films to feature films, gained recognition at Cannes, and won the Best Director award at DANAFF II, Pham Thien An’s return to DANAFF IV this year as a Jury Member for the Asian Competition section carries significant meaning.
