At the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV), the Vietnamese Genre Film Project returns in a new format titled “Script Lab” — an intensive screenwriting workshop lasting approximately two weeks, scheduled to take place in Da Nang during June and July 2026.
The program will select eight feature-length screenplay projects for in-depth development under the guidance of international experts. Partnering with the “Script Lab” this year is Columbia University (USA), one of the world’s most prestigious institutions for cinematic education.
According to information from the Organizing Committee, the program’s mentors include internationally recognized producers, directors, and screenwriters with extensive experience in filmmaking and film project development. The initiative is expected to create a space for connection, exchange, and support for emerging cinematic voices in Vietnam.

The mentors introduced in the program include:
- Anthony Chen – Screenwriter, director, and producer; mentor for the Script Lab – Vietnamese Genre Film Project.
- Jack Lechner – Producer, professor, and writer; mentor for the Script Lab – Vietnamese Genre Film Project.
- Tony Bui – Screenwriter, director, and producer; mentor for the Script Lab – Vietnamese Genre Film Project.
The “Script Lab” program is part of the Workshop & Project Market at DANAFF IV, continuing its mission to support the development of Vietnamese film projects while expanding opportunities to connect with international experts and global cinema networks.
