Han River Bridge Rotation Time for Tourists: Around 11:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
The Han River Bridge – the first rotating bridge in Vietnam, was inaugurated in 2000. The bridge is 487.7 meters long and 12.9 meters wide, consisting of 11 spans connecting the two central roads.
The rotation time for the bridge serving tourists: From 11:00 PM to 12:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays.
The purpose of rotating the Han River Bridge is to serve waterway traffic, clearing the way for large ships to pass. Every day, at around 11:00 PM, the middle part of the bridge rotates 90 degrees around its axis and aligns with the river’s flow, allowing large ships to pass. By 12:00 AM, the bridge returns to its original position.
Staying up late to watch the Han River Bridge rotate and enjoy the peaceful view of the city at night allows both locals and tourists to find a sense of tranquility in their hearts. Perhaps that’s why many people say, “If you haven’t seen the Han River Bridge rotate, you haven’t fully experienced the beauty of Da Nang.”

The bridge is 487.7 meters long and 12.9 meters wide, consisting of 11 spans connecting the central roads between Hai Chau District and Son Tra District – the two main roads of the city, Le Duan Street and Pham Van Dong Street.
The bridge is constructed with pre-stressed reinforced concrete and 02 cable-stayed spans totaling 122.7 meters in length, with the tower and main bridge span made of steel and the bridge deck made of reinforced concrete. In addition to its transportation purpose, the Han River Bridge also holds great aesthetic value, and many people describe it as a picturesque masterpiece in the heart of the city. This special rotating bridge was designed and constructed by a team of Vietnamese engineers from 1998 to 2000. Furthermore, it is notable that 30% of the total construction cost, which amounted to 117 billion VND, was contributed by the people of Da Nang.
