The crew members of the Da Nang yacht, representing Viet Nam in the famous Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, were welcomed in Albany city, capital of Western Australia State, where they rested before going on the next stage.
Le Viet Duyen, General Consul of Viet Nam’s General Consulate in Perth, said the Da Nang yacht, the first Vietnamese representative in the world-famous Clipper race, promotes the profile of not only Da Nang but also Viet Nam, a country boasting great potential in culture, tourism as well as investment and business opportunities in a market of over 90 million people.
The Da Nang yacht’s arrival in Albany is a symbol of friendship between the two cities, said Duyen, adding that he wanted more connection between Albany and other cities in Viet Nam in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, education, cultural exchange, and sports.
Albany Mayor Dennis Wellington said the Clipper race brought a chance for Albany and its residents to know more of Viet Nam and Da Nang and affirmed that Albany is willing to cooperate with Vietnamese cities including Da Nang in various fields.
On behalf of crew members of the Da Nang yacht, captain Wendy Tuck said sailors are determined to complete the race in a high position. The sailors on the yacht said they hope to visit Da Nang some time in future.
