On the afternoon of 26/12/2019, Year-end conference of Danang tourism industry in 2019, and planning for 2020 was hosted and organized by Danang Department of Tourism at DLG Hotel Danang.
At the conference, Danang Department of Tourism was honored to welcome Vice Chairman of Danang People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh, leaders from City Party Committee Office, People’s Committee Office, Departments, agencies, districts, leaders of Danang Travel Association; Hotel Association; Tour Guide Association, tourism businesses, tourism training establishments with central and local journalists in the city.
The conference reported the results of the tourism industry in 2019 with achievements that contributed significantly to the city’s socio-economic development, marking a growth with many positive results. According to the Conference, in 2019, the total number of visitors served by tourist accommodation establishments was estimated at 5,917,222 tourists, an increase of 26% from 2018; in which, international visitors were estimated at 3,497,561 arrivals, up 30.7% over the same period in 2018; domestic visitors were estimated at 2,419,661 arrivals, up 19.8% over the same period in 2018.
In addition to the impressive numbers of international and domestic tourists, the new routes have been expanded, focusing on exploiting the connection, promoting key international markets, promoting the advancement of the facilities quality. In addition, human resources for tourism are improved and perfected to meet the increasing needs of tourists. In addition, the Department of Tourism is also constantly promoting the development and implementation of schemes and plans to create new tourism products to attract tourists in combination with improving the tourism environment, ensuring the best security and safety for travelers to Danang.
Also at the conference, in addition to the achievements of Danang tourism industry in 2019, a number of key tasks in 2020 were also set out to continue promoting tourism development in the year. To be specific, number of guests at accommodation is aimed to increase by 12-14%, in which, international visitors increase by 13-15%. The revenue of accommodation facilities increase by 11-12% compared to the estimated implementation in 2019. The total number of visitors is aimed at 9.8 million arrivals, an increase of 12.74% compared to the estimate in 2019; Of which, international visitors are estimated to increase to 4 million, up 13.57% compared to the number in 2019, domestic tourists are estimated to increase to 5.8 million, up 12.2% compared to the number in 2019.
Moreover, plans of the industry such as Action Plan No. 10652 / KH-UBND on the implementation of Resolution No. 08-NQ / TW dated 16 / 01/2017 for tourism to become the leading industry, Danang City Tourism Development Project for the 2016-2020 period in 2020, a plan to develop night economy in the tourism sector, were proposed. The conference received advice to effectively manage the business of travel, accommodation and guides, focusing on managing cheap tour activities. Other plans include Tourism Promotion Plan 2020, Domestic Market Development Plan 2020, Plan for Diversifying International Market 2019-2021…
At the conference, Chairman of Da Nang Tourism Association Cao Tri Dung and Business Director of Sun Group Phung Pham Thanh Thuy also had a speech highlighting proposals between local authorities and businesses together.
Also speaking at the Conference, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh acknowledged the industry’s efforts over the past year. At the same time, the Vice Chairman of the city also pointed out that it is necessary to look frankly about the limitations and shortcomings in tourism development over the past time and suggested that the tourism industry should have specific plans and programs in the city. The Vice Chairman also highlighted the role of city leadership in the direction and investment of resources to help the city tourism industry have conditions to maximize the power of the industry in the cause of socio-economic development of the city.
Looking back at the Danang Tourism Industry Review Conference 2019, implementing the 2020 tasks set for Danang tourism industry needs to further enhance the role and continue to advise more practical orientations for tourism. Da Nang aims to achieve the target set of visitors in 2020, as well as increasing the diversification of tourism products, ensuring social security and contributing to build Da Nang tourism much stronger.
