On September 18, 2026, the MICHELIN Guide announced its 2026 MICHELIN Key Hotels selection, recognising 21 hotels and resorts across Vietnam. Under Da Nang’s current administrative boundaries, three properties in the city received MICHELIN Keys, spanning the natural setting of Son Tra Peninsula, the shores of Ha My Beach and the riverside landscape of Hoi An.
Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An, Vietnam retained its Two MICHELIN Keys, while InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort and Namia River Retreat – Wellness Inclusive Resort received One MICHELIN Key for the first time in 2026. Each offers a distinctly different stay experience – from beachfront retreat and architecture immersed in nature to riverside wellness – opening up new ways for travellers to experience Da Nang through where they stay.
MICHELIN Key – when the stay becomes part of the journey
While MICHELIN Stars are widely known for recognising outstanding dining experiences, MICHELIN Keys distinguish hotels that offer exceptional stays within the MICHELIN Guide selection.
According to the MICHELIN Guide, hotels are evaluated according to five universal criteria: excellence in architecture and interior design; quality and consistency of service; overall personality and character; value for the price; and a significant contribution to the neighbourhood or setting in which the property is located. MICHELIN Keys and MICHELIN Stars are assessed independently.
The MICHELIN Key system consists of three levels. One MICHELIN Key represents “A very special stay”, Two MICHELIN Keys signify “An exceptional stay”, while Three MICHELIN Keys – the highest distinction – recognise “An extraordinary stay”.
In Vietnam’s 2026 selection, 21 hotels and resorts were awarded MICHELIN Keys, including two Three-Key properties, four Two-Key properties and 15 One-Key properties.
Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai – a tranquil retreat by Ha My Beach
Set along Ha My Beach, Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An, Vietnam retained its Two MICHELIN Keys in 2026. Four Seasons noted that this marks the resort’s second consecutive year holding the distinction and that it is currently the only Two MICHELIN Key resort in Da Nang.
The resort stretches along approximately one kilometre of coastline, with 100 villas surrounded by tropical gardens and coconut palms. Its architecture and design draw inspiration from Vietnamese cultural traditions, bringing together privacy, coastal scenery and experiences centred on balance and wellbeing.
A stay at The Nam Hai extends far beyond a private villa by the sea. Guests can begin the day amid lush greenery, unwind at The Heart of the Earth Spa, explore Vietnamese cuisine or take part in experiences inspired by the culture of Central Vietnam. Culinary activities, wellness rituals and heritage-focused experiences bring a strong sense of place into the journey.
Its location also provides a convenient connection between Ha My Beach, the heritage landscape of Hoi An and other cultural attractions across Central Vietnam. The Four Seasons official website currently lists the resort in Dien Ban Dong Ward, Da Nang City, approximately 30 kilometres from Da Nang International Airport.
Retaining Two MICHELIN Keys therefore reflects more than the quality of the accommodation itself. It also highlights the resort’s ability to create a distinctive sense of place, where the sea, architecture, wellness and local culture come together as part of the guest experience.
InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort – between the forest and the sea of Son Tra
From the southern coastline, the MICHELIN Key journey moves into an entirely different setting on Son Tra Peninsula.
InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is one of the new properties awarded One MICHELIN Key in 2026. In its announcement, the MICHELIN Guide highlighted the way design shapes the entire stay, with architect Bill Bensley incorporating influences from Vietnamese architecture into a highly distinctive resort surrounded by the greenery of Son Tra.
Perched on a hillside overlooking a private bay, the resort is enveloped by tropical forest with expansive views over the sea. Its rooms, suites, penthouses and villas follow the natural contours of the landscape, while design elements inspired by traditional Vietnamese architecture give the property its own distinctive character.
Here, Son Tra is more than a backdrop. The forest, hillside, coastline and sense of seclusion become part of the experience itself. Guests can move from quiet moments by the sea to spa treatments, yoga, meditation or culinary experiences within the resort.
Another distinctive feature is La Maison 1888, the resort’s restaurant currently holding One MICHELIN Star. This creates an interesting meeting point between two MICHELIN distinctions within a single destination: the MICHELIN Key for the hotel experience and the MICHELIN Star for dining, although the two are evaluated independently.
With its first One MICHELIN Key in 2026, the resort offers another way to experience Da Nang: stepping away from the city centre and into the green landscape of Son Tra, where architecture and nature together shape the rhythm of the stay.
Namia River Retreat – a riverside wellness journey along the Thu Bon River
While InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort takes travellers towards the peninsula, Namia River Retreat – Wellness Inclusive Resort introduces a slower rhythm beside the Thu Bon River.
Making its debut in the One MICHELIN Key selection in 2026, Namia is described by the MICHELIN Guide as a peaceful retreat set on a quiet islet amid the natural surroundings of Hoi An, inviting guests to step away from the pace of everyday life and focus on rest and restoration.
Its one- and two-bedroom villas feature private pools, terraces and views towards the river or surrounding greenery. Yet what gives Namia its distinct identity is the way wellness sits at the heart of the stay rather than appearing as an additional service.
The spa experience incorporates fitness, yoga, meditation, sauna, herbal steam treatments and therapies inspired by traditional approaches to wellbeing. The MICHELIN Guide also highlights the resort’s use of Vietnamese wellness traditions to create an experience rooted in nature and tranquillity.
The sense of place continues through its cuisine. Local produce, spices, seafood and the landscapes of the Thu Bon River are woven into the dining journey, from farm-to-table restaurants to sunset dinners on the river.
Here, Hoi An can be experienced not only through its Ancient Town, but also through waterways, greenery, local ingredients and a slower pace of life – another dimension of the heritage landscape within a journey through Da Nang.
Three MICHELIN Keys, three expressions of one destination
From the forest and sea of Son Tra to Ha My Beach and the Thu Bon River, Da Nang’s three MICHELIN Key Hotels in 2026 present three different interpretations of the stay experience.
At Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, the journey centres on beachfront relaxation with connections to wellness and Central Vietnamese culture. At InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, architecture is woven into the forest-and-sea landscape of Son Tra. At Namia River Retreat, wellness unfolds at a slower pace by the river, closely connected to nature and practices inspired by Vietnamese traditions.
What these three experiences share goes beyond high-end accommodation standards. Each brings the character of its setting into the guest journey – an element that also forms part of the MICHELIN Guide’s assessment of remarkable hotels.
Together with Da Nang’s restaurants recognised by the MICHELIN Guide, the presence of three MICHELIN Key Hotels adds another dimension to the ways travellers can discover the city. A journey may begin with food, continue with days spent between forest and sea, slow down with riverside wellness, and extend into ancient streets, craft villages, heritage sites and local life.
Because on a memorable journey, a hotel is not always simply somewhere to return to after a day of exploring. Sometimes, the stay itself becomes part of the destination.
