The Department of Tourism, in partnership with the Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, along with renowned airlines, are eagerly looking forward to extending a warm welcome to both domestic and international tourists as they visit Da Nang to celebrate the Lunar New Year in 2024.

On February 10th, 2024, the beginning of the Lunar New Year 2024, Da Nang International Airport welcomed more than 125 domestic and international flights, bringing over 17,000 visitors to Da Nang. Among these flights, 53 were of global origin, carrying an estimated 7,500 passengers.

As part of its long-standing tradition of hospitality, the Da Nang Department of Tourism collaborates with various agencies to organize a special welcoming event for the first tourists of the Lunar New Year to arrive in Da Nang City. The event was held at Da Nang International Airport’s Domestic and International Arrival Terminal.

At 6:45 am on February 10th, 2024, flight VN628, operated by Vietnam Airlines from Don Muang (Thailand), landed at Da Nang International Airport amidst much fanfare. Representatives from the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the Central Airport Authority, Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, and Vietnam Airlines graced the occasion with their presence.

The first group of esteemed visitors to Da Nang City were given a warm welcome with lion dance performances and exclusive gifts, which included tourism attraction vouchers (such as Asia Park, Nui Than Tai Hot Springs Park, and Ao Dai Show Da Nang…). Three very fortunate guests were even presented with round-trip air tickets for the Don Muong (Thailand) – Da Nang route of Vietnam Airlines, along with other tourism products of Da Nang.

Subsequently, Da Nang’s thriving tourism industry continued to receive domestic tourists on Vietnam Airlines flight VN157 from Hanoi to Da Nang and Starlux flight JX701 from Taipei, Taiwan to Da Nang. Visitors were also given delightful souvenirs of Da Nang city, such as non la (traditional conical hats), ginger jam, and baked coconut cakes.

According to Mr. Tan Van Vuong, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the reception of the first flights and the esteemed guests landing in Da Nang is a positive signal, which has increased the expectation that Da Nang tourism will prosper even more and continue to thrive in 2024.

In general, it is expected that the total number of domestic and international flights to Da Nang during the 7-day Tet holiday in 2024 (from February 8-14) will be 894 flights, a remarkable 16% increase compared to the same period last year.
