Establish Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Hospital to boost medical tourism in Da Nang

Da Nang city has decided to found Da Nang Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Hospital in order to enhance public heath while orienting the development of high-quality and intensive heath services, improving tourism services combined with medical examination and treatment.

According to Da Nang Department of Health, at the ceremony held on the afternoon April 29, Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Home Affairs Dang Chi Thanh announced Decision 141 / QD-UBND (January 14, 2020) of Da Nang People’s Committee regarding the establishment of the Da Nang Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Hospital under the Department of Health on the basis of restructuring Danang Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Center.

The main functions of Da Nang Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Hospital are to advise and implement professional and technical activities on specialized medical examination and treatment of Odonto – Maxillo – Facial in the city, meanwhile directing the dental clinics in Da Nang city.

At the ceremony, the Da Nang Department of Health also announced the decision to appoint Mr. Nguyen Quang Hai, Doctor of Maxillofacial Surgery, former Director of Da Nang Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Center as Director of Da Nang Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Hospital.

According to Dr. Ngo Thi Kim Yen, Director of Da Nang Department of Health, the establishment of Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Hospital on the basis of reorganizing Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Hospital Center aims to thoroughly implement the policy stated in Resolution 43-NQ/ TW dated 24/01/2019 by the Politburo on “building and developing Danang City towards 2030, with a vision to 2045”.

Accordingly, Resolution 43-NQ /TW defines tasks and solutions for the health sector of Danang City to strengthen and improve the health system quality, public healthcare in the area, orienting the development of high-quality and intensive healthcare, enhancing tourism services combined with medical examination and treatment.

“This is a transformation in line with regional and international integration trends; on the one hand, contributing to the completion of the city’s intensive health system, on the other hand, adding the Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Hospital to the sites for medical tourism in Da Nang City “- Director of Danang Department of Health Ngo Thi Kim Yen stated.

Da Nang Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Hospital will be built in 2 stages. Phase 1 (2020 – 2022) includes 30 dental chairs and 30 inpatient beds, which will be completed and handed over in the first quarter of 2020; Phase 2 (2023 – 2025) consists of 50 dental chairs and 50 inpatient beds. Construction site: Medical cluster on Le Dinh Ly street, Thanh Khe district.

During the first stage of Phase 1, the People’s Committee of Da Nang approved the Project on the position of Da Nang Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Hospital with 82 staff. In addition to human resources from public units, the Da Nang Department of Health will organize the recruitment of additional personnel for this hospital in the near future.

In preparation for the transfer to Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Hospital, Da Nang Odonto – Maxillo – Facial Center has recently appointed many doctors for postgraduate training (Master and Specialist Level 1) about Odonto – Maxillo – Facial at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City. In the near future, there will be recruiting highly qualified and professional staff to meet the hospital’s high-tech treatment needs.

The center also gradually applies plenty of new treatment techniques such as implant dental, using new orthodontic techniques to solve difficult cases, minor surgery of some tumors, cysts in teeth as well as difficult and rare-met gum … to meet the increasing treatment demand, and generate sources of income to stabilize and improve the material and spiritual life of officials and staff.
