According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the city welcomed 3,023,266 domestic and foreign visitors over the past 9 months, an increase of 18% compared with the same period last year, and representing 84% of the year’s target.
The number of international tourist arrivals to the city reached 657,600 – an increase of 18.4% – whilst that of domestic visitors hit over 2.36 million, up 19.1%. As a result, the city’s tourism sector earned an estimated 7.8 trillion VND in revenue, an increase of 28.7% against the same period last year, and fulfilling 88.8% of the year’s target.
These positive results can be mainly attributed to the great efforts made by the Department in promoting and advertising Da Nang’s tourism images to key potential foreign tourist markets. These include South Korea, Japan, Russia and Malaysia, along with domestic markets like Ha Noi, and the cities of Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh and Can Tho.
Since the start of this year, a total of 36 new hotels with a total of 1,831 rooms have been put into operation in the city. This has helped to bring the total number of local hotels to 426, providing 15,465 rooms for visitors. Of this figure, the number of 3 to 5-star hotels is 71, offering 7,267 rooms.
