More than simply a water sport, stand-up paddleboarding has become a favourite activity among young people thanks to its sense of freedom, dynamic spirit and inspiring moments surrounded by nature.
Imagine a July morning as the sun begins to rise over Man Thai Beach. Standing on a SUP board with your paddle firmly in hand, you start gliding across the crystal-clear water. Ahead lies the vast horizon, while behind you, the city is slowly awakening. Every paddle stroke not only carries you forward but also reveals a new perspective of Da Nang’s coastline—welcoming, liberating and full of energy.
With blue waters, golden sunshine and colourful SUP boards, the event is expected to create countless memorable moments for participants to capture, share and spread across social media. It is also a wonderful opportunity for groups of friends to take on a new challenge together and preserve unforgettable summer memories in Da Nang.
From Competitive Races to Visitor Experiences
The Son Tra – Da Nang SUP Race 2026 features a variety of race categories designed for different groups of participants.
Experienced male and female athletes can test their abilities in the 200-metre Sprint, which requires speed, balance and powerful paddle strokes over a short distance. The 2,000-metre Open Race offers a longer challenge, demanding a combination of endurance, technique and the ability to maintain a steady pace across the water.
Alongside the competitive categories, the programme also features a 500-metre Team Race for local residents and visitors. This is an ideal choice for those stepping onto a SUP board for the first time, allowing them to join friends, experience the excitement of the race and enjoy Da Nang’s coastline at their own pace.
You do not need to be a professional athlete to become part of the event. All you need is a willingness to try something new, a little coordination and plenty of positive energy.
