At Man Thai, Tho Quang area, there exists traditional fishing industry in which the locals have been living up of catching fish along the beach for ages. The fishing equipment, the traditional festivals Nghin Ong – Cau Ngu, Lang Ong and Lang Ba Temple, seafood market…have shaped the culture of fishing village.
The fishing culture is the foundation to create the unique selling points of Danang tourism and attracts more tourists to Danang.
Sunsire or sunset is the perfect time for fisherman to get ready, take their nets and go fishing.
There must be two people, one to sail and one to throw the net. Two ends of the nets will be pulled to the bank in which there are 5 – 10 people each bank.
The size of the net holes should be around 1x2cm while the length of the net must be from 100m to 1000m.
Man Thai beach is shielded by Son Tra mountain so there is fewer waves and it would be easier to catch fishes.
Thus, it took the fishermen only 1 hour a half to 2 hours to catch fishes.
Once the boat arrived, there could be lots of people trying to buy fresh fishes.
Not only the locals but also tourists also tried to buy fresh fishes for cooking.
“Every day we could get around 3 to 4 cast nets in the morning and also afternoon. We catched more fish if it’s raining. There are lots of curious tourists who buy the fishes right on the beach. The remaining fishes will be sold at the market”, said fishermen.
