The tournament is an official Asian Development Tour (ADT) event, part of the Asian Tour. It is also the main focus of the Danang Golf Tourism Festival 2023, hosted by Danang City.

The tournament will follow an individual stroke play format through three rounds on the Par-72 course, designed by ‘Nicklaus Design’, a company owned by the legendary golfer and golf icon Jack Nicklaus. The qualifying round will be determined after two rounds, with the top 50 players qualifying. The tournament has a prize fund of 100,000 USD, and the cup awarded to the winner is crafted from Chu Dau pottery (Hai Duong province), showcasing the 600-year history of the formation and development of the Golf industry.

This year’s golf tournament has extended invitations to 20 talented Vietnamese golfers, including top professional athletes such as Doan Van Dinh, Nguyen Huu Quyet, and Do Hong Giang, as well as skilled amateur golfers like Nguyen Dang Minh, Nguyen Nhat Long, and Doan Uy. The event will be broadcast live on various channels, including, Vietnam’s leading specialized golf website, Golf channel, Vietnam Cap television VTV, and the Danang Fantasticity fanpage channel of Da Nang tourism.

ADT is a Division II golf tournament of the Asian Tour, founded in 2010 to provide a career path for professional golfers in Asia. This tournament serves as a crucial stepping stone to the top-tier Asian Tour, much like the Korn Ferry Tour of the US PGA Tour and the Challenge Tour of the European DP World Tour. Since 2013, ADT tournaments have been included in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) list.

Mr. Ken Kudo, Associate Director of partnerships at Asian Tour, said: “We are excited that the ADT event returns to Danang city in Vietnam – the top attractive destination in Asia – for its second consecutive year. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Danang People’s Committee, the Danang Golf Resort, and the VGS Group for their invaluable collaboration and support in making the BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2023 and the Danang Golf Tourism Festival 2023 an immense success.”

The Danang Golf Tourism Festival 2023, in addition to the BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2023, features various new and attractive activities at APEC Park that bring Golf closer to the public, including an exhibition space for golf tourism products, golf practice zones, golf fashion show, nightly art show, and a check-in Festival where visitors can get free tickets to watch the golf tournament. Moreover, the International Conference on Golf and Golf Tourism (AGIF), held within the framework of the Festival, brings together representatives from international golf agencies and organizations such as the Asian Golf Industry Federation, Vietnam Golf Association, Vietnam Golf Coast, and the world’s leading golf course architects to discuss and evaluate the potential of golf tourism and propose solutions to develop golf tourism in Vietnam towards the international market.

The successful 2022 Da Nang Golf Tourism Festival has paved the way for significant growth in golf tourism in Central Vietnam. The first half of 2023 alone saw local golf courses and their surrounding areas serve approximately 200,000 rounds of Golf – a figure equivalent to the entire year of 2022. This impressive growth has created favorable conditions for golf tourism to become the main attraction in Danang and has the potential to attract high-end tourists.
