Vice Chairman of Danang People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh stated that the World Health Organization (WHO) has officially declared that Europe is the new hotspot of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to the Immigration Department (Ministry of Public Security), about 52,000 people from European countries came to Vietnam in the past 14 days, posing high risks of spreading the disease if no measures are taken instantly.

On March 13, the infectious disease surveillance system of Vietnam recorded two cases with positive test results for SARS-CoV-2 entering Noi Bai airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN18 from Paris (France) to Vietnam on March 10 and on Qatar Airways QR968 from Doha (Qatar) to Vietnam on 13/3.

Therefore, the Steering Committee for Prevention and Control of Covid-19 in Da Nang City boosted the City Police Department, Department of Health, People’s Committees of districts and Steering Committee members to urgently conduct the requests of the National Steering Committee for prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemic indicated in the Official Dispatch 1268 / CV-BCD and Official Dispatch 1269 / CV-BCD of March 14.

Specifically, Da Nang City Police preside and coordinate with the Department of Health, District People’s Committees and relevant agencies to rapidly review and verify all passengers on flight VN18 of Vietnam Airlines from Paris (France) to Vietnam on March 10 and on flight QR968 of Qatar Airways from Doha (Qatar) to Vietnam on March 13 who are still present in the locality and those who have close contact with passengers on these flights.

Meanwhile, hurriedly review and verify all citizens who come from or travel through European countries to enter Da Nang within 14 days (from the date of entry) currently residing in the city.

Steering Committee for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 in Da Nang requested the City Police to preside and coordinate with the Department of Health and other relevant units to request the above cases submitting mandatory medical declaration online (if not yet declare when entering Da Nang City) and immediately provide information and coordinate with the health sector to implement measures to monitor health, appropriate isolation and avoid the spread of disease.

Based on the information from the City Police, SARS-CoV-2 detection testing will be conducted for above-mentioned cases so that appropriate isolation and medical interventions can be applied promptly and the spread of disease to the public can be minimized.

At the same time, the City Police investigate and verify passengers on the aforementioned flights present at the locality as well as all cases that have close contact with them to conduct medical measures, quarantines and  ensure effective prevention and control of Covid-19.

Also in the evening of March 15, Da Nang Tourism Department informed the City Steering Committee for the prevention of Covid-19  and requested units, travel businesses, hotels and tour guides to track information about passengers traveling on flight VN167 from Hanoi to Da Nang on March 11.

The reason is that a passenger traveling on flight VN18 from Paris (France) to Vietnam on March 10 was positive of SARS-CoV-2 and entered at Noi Bai airport on March 10, then he continued on the flight VN167 to Da Nang on March 11. Therefore, passengers traveling on VN167 flight need to know information to self-isolate and contact the health authorities for necessary support to ensure safety for themselves and the community.

Earlier, on the afternoon of March 15, the Covid-19 Steering Committee of Da Nang City and the Department of Tourism announced the proposal of tourism units, businesses and people to seek for passengers on the flight VN126 from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang on March 13 as they were related to the 53rd patient of Covid-19 and the QH154 flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang on March 15 was associated with a high-risk case of Covid-19 in HCMC.

Hence, Da Nang is urgently validating passengers traveling on 05 flights, including VN18 from Paris (France) to Vietnam on March 10, QR968 of Qatar Airways from Doha (Qatar) to Vietnam on March 13, VN167 from Hanoi to Da Nang on March 11, VN126 from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang on March 13 and QH154 from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang at 12h00 on March 15 are present in the locality and people with close contact with passengers on these flights.

Steering Committee for Prevention and Control of COVID-19 in Da Nang city and the Department of Tourism requested the relevant agencies, units, tourism businesses and people to review and were any passengers on the flights to detect in Da Nang, there should quickly inform the City Steering Committee (Dr. Nguyen Tien Hong, Deputy Director of Department of Health, Tel: 0905141567; Doctor Nguyen Hoa, Deputy Director of the Center Disease control, Tel 0905285620).

Or notify the People’s Committee of the districts; or notify the Travel Management Office (Danang Tourism Department) at the phone number of Mr. Huynh Duc Trung (0905.231.108); or alert the District Health Center (follow the phone numbers below) for instant actions.
