“La Maison 1888 has been dedicated to providing guests with an unrivaled dining experience since its inception. This prestigious award marks a significant milestone in our journey. On this remarkable occasion, I extend my heartfelt thanks and congratulations to the La Maison 1888 team. We couldn’t be prouder, and attaining a MICHELIN star solidifies our resort as the ultimate destination for exquisite dining in Vietnam,” said Seif Hamdy, General Manager of InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.
Crafted by the renowned architect and interior designer Bill Bensley, La Maison 1888 is a unique masterpiece that exudes a French Colonial-style mansion with influences from Indochinese architecture. It was the pioneering restaurant in Vietnam to collaborate with a MICHELIN-starred chef, Christian Le Squer. The restaurant offers a remarkable blend of French cuisine with local ingredients and flavors, providing an unparalleled culinary journey.

The culinary team at La Maison 1888, led by Executive Chef Florian Stein, has been the backbone of the restaurant’s success. Their consistent creativity and meticulous craftsmanship, drawn from their experience at France’s famed Le Chambard restaurant in Alsace, have consistently impressed guests. Each dining experience at La Maison 1888 is enhanced by a handpicked selection of fine wines curated by Beverage Manager and Sommelier Jimmy Chang. The restaurant’s wine cellar has been honored with the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for seven consecutive years, boasting rare wines not found elsewhere in Vietnam.
Nguyen Toan, the restaurant’s Assistant Sommelier, was honored with the MICHELIN Sommelier Award, which recognizes his talent as a young Vietnamese professional in the food and beverage industry.
Designed by Bill Bensley, La Maison 1888 offers an elegant and luxurious space with Indochinese architectural design.
The MICHELIN star is the latest addition to La Maison 1888’s series of accolades. Since its opening 11 years ago, the restaurant has continually set new standards for fine dining in Vietnam. CNN has hailed it as one of the “Top 10 Best Restaurants in the World,” listed as one of the “Top 10 Most Beautiful Restaurants in the World” by Architectural Digest, and awarded “World’s Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant” by the World Travel Awards. In celebration of its MICHELIN star, La Maison 1888 will introduce a special menu featuring Chef Christian’s most beloved dishes.
First published in 1900, the MICHELIN Guide recognizes the world’s top restaurants based on five critical criteria: the chef’s culinary style, flavor harmony, cooking technique, ingredient quality, and consistency across the menu. The arrival of the MICHELIN Guide in Da Nang, following its launch in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in 2023, is a testament to Vietnam’s growing influence on the global culinary stage. This recognition further solidifies La Maison 1888’s position as a top dining destination in Vietnam.
