Nestled by the poetic Thu Bon River at 66 Bach Dang Street, Hoi An Ward, Da Nang City, the Hoi An Traditional Art Performance House is a vibrant cultural space that celebrates the artistry and spirit of Vietnam’s Central region.
AN ARTISTIC SPACE IN THE HEART OF THE ANCIENT TOWN
Established in 1996, the performance house is located within a two-storey ancient house overlooking the Thu Bon River. The ground floor is used as an exhibition space displaying traditional masks and musical instruments, where visitors can also try painting Tuong masks. The upper floor is a professional stage area, fully equipped to host live performances.
For nearly 30 years, the Hoi An Traditional Art Performance House has brought authentic cultural experiences to both domestic and international audiences, contributing significantly to the preservation and promotion of Hoi An’s traditional performing arts.
THE COLORS OF CULTURE THROUGH EVERY PERFORMANCE
With a talented team of musicians, dancers, and choreographers, the Hoi An Traditional Art Performance House showcases performances deeply rooted in the culture of Central Vietnam. The repertoire includes Bai Choi singing, Quang Nam folk songs, Central folk melodies, folk dances, and traditional instrumental ensembles.
Each performance reflects the essence of Hoi An’s cultural identity. Visitors can enjoy Bai Choi – a folk art form blending music, poetry, and community games; listen to the heartfelt melodies of folk songs accompanied by the monochord, bamboo flute, and other traditional instruments; and admire folk dances such as the water-carrying dance and offering dance, all vividly choreographed to showcase local life and beliefs.
A special highlight is the performance of Hat Boi (Tuong) – Vietnam’s classical opera – known for its expressive acting, colorful costumes, and profound emotional depth. These performances captivate audiences, offering a window into the rich spiritual and artistic world of Central Vietnam.

With daily performances at 10:15 a.m., 3:15 p.m., and 4:15 p.m., the venue offers an engaging and emotional experience that helps visitors better understand the soul and traditions of Hoi An’s people.
Guests can also explore the exhibition area on the first floor, featuring traditional masks and instruments, and take part in hands-on activities such as Tuong mask painting, folk music lessons, folk singing, coconut-leaf crafting, calligraphy, ceramic painting, and lantern making.
The Hoi An Traditional Art Performance House is not only a place that preserves traditional artistic values but also a bridge connecting the past and the present, linking local residents with visitors from all over the world.
