From July 9 to 12, 2026, the Vietnam – Japan Festival in Danang 2026 will take place at East Sea Park, An Hai Ward, Danang, along with various venues across the city. The event promises to offer a vibrant space for cultural, artistic, culinary, sports and cooperation exchange between Vietnam and Japan.
The Vietnam – Japan Festival in Danang is a large-scale annual external relations event, first held in 2014, and has become one of the most notable Vietnam – Japan exchange activities in the country. Over more than a decade, the festival has not only served as a cultural bridge between the two peoples, but also as an important forum to promote cooperation in various fields such as investment, trade, tourism, education, science and technology, people-to-people exchange and local-level cooperation.
Following the success of the 10th festival in 2025, which welcomed more than 50,000 residents and visitors, the Vietnam – Japan Festival in Danang 2026 will continue to be held with many new activities, diverse content and the participation of numerous localities, businesses and organizations from Vietnam and Japan.
A Vietnam – Japan cultural space at East Sea Park
Throughout the festival, East Sea Park will become a vibrant cultural exchange venue with nearly 100 booths introducing the culture, cuisine, tourism, products and services of Vietnam and Japan.
Residents and visitors can explore the exhibition on cooperation achievements between Danang and Japanese partners; the children’s painting exhibition from Japanese localities that have cooperative ties with Danang; and take part in Vietnamese – Japanese cultural experiences in an open seaside space.
This year’s festival will feature many Vietnamese and Japanese artists, including Isaac, Thai Ngan, Kolme, Anirocks and many performances combining traditional and modern arts. The Bon Odori exchange, Vietnamese bamboo dance, V-Jpop Random Dance, Vietnam – Japan cultural and artistic exchange programmes, and the Final Round of the Anime Character Cosplay Contest are expected to create a youthful, lively and culturally rich atmosphere.
Diverse sports and community exchange activities
In addition to cultural programmes, the Vietnam – Japan Festival in Danang 2026 will expand its sports exchange activities, contributing to stronger people-to-people connections between the two countries.
Key activities include the Vietnam – Japan Friendly Football Match with the participation of SHB Danang Football Club; the Vietnam – Japan Youth Football Exchange Day; the Japanese Baseball5 Experience, appearing in Danang for the first time; the Vietnam – Japan Traditional Martial Arts Performance; and the Earthing Marathon along Danang’s coastal route.
In particular, the talkshow with two Japanese Olympic Judo athletes, Nakamura Misato and Tachimoto Megumi, will bring inspiring stories about sports, resilience and cultural exchange between the two countries.
A forum for Vietnam – Japan cooperation
One of the key highlights of the festival is the conference “Meet Japan in Danang: Comprehensive Strategic Partnership – Towards a Sustainable Future”, taking place on the afternoon of July 9, 2026 at Nesta Celia Danang Hotel.
The conference will be attended by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, Japanese localities, organizations, businesses and experts from both countries. The programme will include two thematic discussion sessions, focusing on strengthening local-level cooperation, cultural, sports and tourism exchange between Danang and Japanese localities; and promoting cooperation in developing the Vietnam International Financial Centre in Danang within the framework of the Vietnam – Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Within the framework of the conference, a Memorandum of Understanding will be exchanged to promote friendship and cooperation between Danang and Kinokawa City, Japan; along with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Danang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Takara Corporation, opening up further cooperation opportunities in culture, tourism and local development.
At the same time, Japanese delegations will join field visits to Software Park No. 2, the International Financial Centre, Danang Hi-Tech Park and industrial parks in Danang, thereby learning more about the city’s investment environment and strategic development orientations.
