Da Nang International Terminal T2: Awarded Skytrax 5-Star Rating for the Third Consecutive Year
The independent assessment conducted by Skytrax in March 2026 confirmed that T2 continues to retain the highest rating for an airport terminal. At the same time, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT) is implementing a capacity expansion project from 4 million to 6 million passengers per year, marking a strategic step in the terminal’s next phase of development.

During its annual assessment in March 2026, Skytrax confirmed that Da Nang International Passenger Terminal (T2), operated by Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT), continued to achieve a 5-star rating for the third consecutive year. This milestone is particularly significant as it comes at a time when T2 is facing the highest operational pressure in its history: in 2025, the terminal served 6,811,448 passengers, exceeding its designed capacity of 4 million passengers per year by more than 70%.

According to Skytrax’s independent assessment, T2 maintained high standards across core areas, including terminal space, waiting areas, cleanliness, passenger information systems, service facilities and digital experience. However, Skytrax also pointed out that passenger traffic growth, especially during peak hours, is a factor that could directly affect the quality of passenger experience if timely infrastructure expansion solutions are not implemented.
T2 has a designed capacity of 4 million passengers per year. In 2025 alone, the terminal served 6,811,448 passengers, exceeding its designed capacity by more than 70%.
“Maintaining the Skytrax 5-star standard for the third consecutive year is a great source of pride for AHT, but above all, it is a responsibility. As passenger traffic continues to grow strongly, pressure on infrastructure and service quality is becoming increasingly significant. The expansion of T2 is not only a matter of operational capacity, but also a prerequisite for us to continue upholding international service standards, meeting the growing expectations of passengers, and contributing to safeguarding the image of Da Nang as the city’s international gateway,” said Mr. Do Trong Hau, Deputy General Director of Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT).
Beyond Service Standards: Positioning T2 as a Living Cultural Space
AHT does not aim to stop at international assessment standards. With the motto “Dedicated Hospitality” and its vision of becoming the most hospitable terminal in Viet Nam, the company is gradually shaping T2 into a place where passengers can feel the identity of the Central region from the moment they enter the terminal, before boarding their flights.

To realize this positioning, AHT is implementing a comprehensive and systematic experience strategy, placing passengers at the centre throughout their entire journey at the terminal. This strategy goes beyond individual activities and is designed as a unified experience ecosystem that closely connects operations, branding and culture. AHT is working with professional art creators to develop art exhibition spaces, contemporary performances, workshops and heritage touchpoints, arranged according to a consistent experience flow from the check-in area to the boarding gates.
In parallel, themed gate areas inspired by the heritage and nature of Central Viet Nam are being studied for implementation as an integral part of the overall direction. The aim is to offer international passengers a distinctive impression of the land they have just arrived in or are about to leave. This is how AHT proactively leads passenger experience standards beyond traditional service benchmarks.

Notably, the 2026 assessment results recorded remarkable improvements in the Customs area. Compared with 2025, the score for queue processing time increased from 1.5 to 4.5 points, while the operational efficiency score rose from 1.5 to 4.0 points. Skytrax also noted that congestion no longer occurred and highly appreciated the proactive opening of additional processing lanes during peak periods. This serves as clear evidence of the effective coordination between AHT and the border-gate Customs force in enhancing the experience of international passengers.
AHT sincerely acknowledges the attention, guidance and support of the Da Nang City People’s Committee, departments, agencies and units operating at Da Nang International Airport. These practical contributions have been creating a solid foundation for the journey to elevate T2.

Perspective rendering of the T2 expansion project
Achieving the Skytrax 5-star rating for three consecutive years is a testament to AHT’s operational capability and commitment to service quality. It also provides a foundation for T2 to continue developing in the next phase, contributing to strengthening Da Nang’s position as a reliable and culturally distinctive international aviation gateway.
