On April 3, 2026, in Champasak Province, within the framework of the Investment, Trade and Tourism Cooperation Forum “Promoting Connectivity along the East–West Economic Corridor 2026”, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang and the Department of Information, Culture and Tourism of Champasak signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cultural and tourism cooperation for the period 2026–2030.

The cooperation focuses on information exchange, strengthening promotion and marketing of culture and tourism, and enhancing linkages between businesses of the two localities. In addition, the Tourism Associations of both sides also signed a cooperation agreement aimed at developing joint tour programs, cross-border tourism products, and expanding business connectivity networks.

On this occasion, an art performance by the Da Nang Traditional Arts Theatre contributed to introducing traditional performing arts and the cultural identity of Quang region to Lao participants attending the Forum.

On the sidelines of the Forum, Da Nang’s culture and tourism sector participated in the 2026 Trade and Tourism Fair held from April 3 to April 5, 2026 at Champasak Park. The city’s joint booth, covering an area of 180m² (with 36m² dedicated to tourism), showcased destination images through publications, signature products and tourism gifts. The interactive lucky draw activity at the booth attracted a large number of visitors, enhancing direct communication effectiveness. The program was accompanied by nearly 10 leading tourism enterprises from Da Nang, creating a positive impact and becoming a highlight for both visitors and businesses.

This Forum took place in the context of Laos’ tourism market showing strong recovery and significant growth potential. In 2025, Da Nang welcomed more than 31,000 visitors from Laos, accounting for 0.41% of total international arrivals. In the first three months of 2026 alone, arrivals from Laos exceeded 7,000, reflecting a steady growth trend. Notably, Lao Airlines officially resumed the Vientiane – Da Nang route from March 29, 2026, with a frequency of two flights per week, contributing to enhanced air connectivity and increased visitor exchange between the two destinations.

In the coming time, Da Nang’s culture and tourism sector will continue to promote cultural exchanges, organize art troupe exchanges, develop joint tourism products, and strengthen business connectivity. These efforts aim to further consolidate friendship, improve cooperation effectiveness, and move towards sustainable development between Da Nang and the southern provinces of Laos.
