Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate is located in the mountainous western area of Da Nang, where ecological nature meets the indigenous cultural space of the Co Tu people. How to get to Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate

Traveling from Da Nang, Hoi An, or Tam Ky to Dong Giang takes you along scenic routes surrounded by majestic, green mountain landscapes.

Along the way, visitors can learn more about the region’s history, indigenous culture, and local people. One of the most striking impressions is the warmth and sincerity of the local communities—despite a modest way of life, they are welcoming, genuine, and deeply hospitable.

The ideal time for the best experience is from afternoon to evening, when the weather is cool and pleasant—perfect for leisurely walks, sightseeing, and joining free cultural activities with the Co Tu community.

Travel time: Approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.

From Da Nang:
Travel along National Highway 14B to Ha Nha Bridge, pass under the bridge toward Ha Tan Bridge, continue in the direction of An Diem Prison to Ben Hien Commune, then follow the main road to Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate Ecotourism Area.From Tam Ky or Hoi An:
From Tam Ky, travel along National Highway 1A (or the Tam Ky – Da Nang Expressway) to Vinh Dien, then head toward Ai Nghia, continue to Ha Nha Bridge, and follow the same route past An Diem Prison to reach Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate.
From Hoi An, drive along Tran Quy Cap Street, pass through Dien Ban toward Ai Nghia, then continue toward Ha Nha Bridge and follow the same route to Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate.

Best time to experience Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate

The most beautiful time to visit is from afternoon to evening, when the weather is cool, sunlight is gentle, and conditions are ideal for walking, sightseeing, and outdoor activities.

In early spring, the site hosts the “Spring Opening” program featuring distinctive cultural activities such as:

  • Picking lucky buds for good fortune
  • Writing wishes for peace and well-being
  • Co Tu folk singing exchanges
  • Traditional games and Tet market stalls
  • Check-in experiences in traditional costumes

Each year, as the mountain rainy season begins to ease, Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate becomes a gathering place for festivals closely connected to indigenous cultural life. Visitors not only stroll through refreshing mountain scenery but also immerse themselves in signature festivals such as the A Rieu Chili Festival or the Spring Festival, where music, dance, cuisine, and community life come together in an emotionally rich open space.

These festivals typically take place around July and August, when the mountain climate is pleasant, offering visitors a chance to experience folk arts, vibrant cultural colors, and the authentic rhythm of local life—not through display, but through participation, listening, and direct engagement.

Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate is a journey into a mythical world, where each stop reflects majestic nature, spiritual architecture, and distinctive indigenous culture.

Heaven’s Gate – A masterpiece shaped by time

Passing through Heaven’s Gate—known locally as the “gateway between heaven and earth”—visitors encounter stunning stalactite formations shaped over thousands of years. Beyond this natural masterpiece lies a harmonious complex of resorts and entertainment spaces set against a dramatic natural backdrop.

Heaven’s Gate Cable Car – A cloud-hunting journey through the great forest

This cable car line stretches over 1.6 km and is supplied by Doppelmayr Garaventa (Austria). The system includes two stations, seven towers, 19 cabins, and a capacity of over 1,000 guests per hour. Visitors enjoy breathtaking views of primary forests and cascading waterfalls from above.

Unique architectural and landscape complexes

Other highlights include Thanh Long Mountain, the White Tiger Statue, a system of seven bridges spanning the Ngan River, and immersive cultural and culinary experiences at the ancient Co Tu village.

Along the Ngan River at the mountain foothills are seven bridges, including Rainbow Bridge, O Thuoc Bridge, and Kieu Bridge. Most notable are Tien Waterfall and Dragon Egg Waterfall, two of the most distinctive waterfalls among the 25 natural waterfalls that have earned the site a Vietnam record as the ecotourism area with the most natural waterfalls in the country.

The site also holds a Vietnam record for the longest dragon-shaped covered corridor, stretching 460 meters, inspired by Ly Dynasty dragon architecture, along with a 39-meter-long glass bridge. These attractions operate alongside the cable car, offering panoramic views of the majestic mountains. The journey continues to Jade Emperor Cave, Fairy Palace Cave with its multi-layered stalactites, and Ba Lam Cung Thanh Mau Temple, a sacred site where visitors pray for peace and prosperity.

Notably, an inter-provincial bus route Hoi An – My Son – Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate has been introduced to enhance tourism connectivity from eastern to western Da Nang. The 106 km route starts from Nam Hoi An City Urban Tourism Area (Duy Nghia Commune, Da Nang City) and ends at the parking area of Dong Giang Heaven’s Gate Ecotourism Area, contributing to a safe and well-connected tourism journey.
