EXHIBITION “WOMEN IN SCIENCE: ESCAPE ROAD – THE SEARCH FOR FUTURE NOBEL LAUREATES AND INSPIRATION CORNER: SPANISH WOMEN SCIENTISTS”
The exhibition “Women in Science: Escape Road – The Search for Future Nobel Laureates and Inspiration Corner: Spanish Women Scientists”, jointly organized by the Da Nang Museum and the Embassy of Spain in Vietnam, introduces the public to the life stories, research journeys and outstanding contributions of women scientists from Spain and many other countries around the world. Through these stories, the exhibition celebrates the intelligence, passion, perseverance and creativity of women whose work has contributed significantly to the advancement of science and human life. At the same time, it conveys a message of gender equality in science, affirming that science is an open field where everyone can pursue their passion, create knowledge and contribute to a better world.
The exhibition is organized around two main themes:
1. “Women in Science: Escape Road – The Search for Future Nobel Laureates”
This section presents the stories of 26 women scientists who have received some of the world’s most prestigious scientific honors, including the Nobel Prize, Abel Prize and Fields Medal.
Through materials introducing their biographies, research journeys and outstanding achievements, visitors can learn about the determination of these women scientists to overcome difficulties, barriers and prejudice in pursuit of their passion for science.
The exhibition covers a wide range of research fields, from medicine, biotechnology, chemistry, physics and mathematics to both fundamental and applied sciences. Their remarkable achievements in areas such as HIV, cancer and malaria research, CRISPR-Cas9 gene-editing technology, quantum physics, lasers and the molecular structure of life highlight the important contributions women have made to modern science.
2. “Inspiration Corner: Spanish Women Scientists”
This section introduces eight outstanding Spanish women scientists from different generations and fields of research.
Through stories of learning, research, creativity and overcoming challenges, the exhibition highlights the contributions of Spanish women to science, technology and society. It also serves as an inspiring space for younger generations, particularly students and young women who are considering a future in education, research and science.
As part of the exhibition, the Da Nang Museum and the Embassy of Spain in Vietnam will organize the educational activity “Explore with a Scientist” at 2:00 PM on 22 September 2026 (Tuesday) for secondary school students.
The activity is designed to help students learn more about the work, qualities and research journey of a scientist, while also giving them the opportunity to take part in simple, safe and age-appropriate scientific experiments and hands-on activities, including:
- Talk and exchange – “The Journey to Becoming a Scientist”: Students will meet and listen to scientists share their research journeys and experiences in exploring and solving scientific problems.
- Discovery activity – “Fun Experiments”: A selection of engaging and visual scientific experiments will be introduced and demonstrated, with a focus on Physics and Chemistry.
- Role-playing experience – “Young Scientist”: Students will be guided in preparing and using scientific tools and materials, carrying out basic scientific procedures and learning about safety requirements in practical experiments.
- “Ring the Golden Bell” Quiz – “Journey of Knowledge Creation”: An opportunity for students to reinforce their knowledge while developing their thinking skills, quick responses and enthusiasm for learning.
