DA NANG – AN EMERGING DESTINATION FOR HIGH-END MIDDLE EASTERN TRAVELERS
Da Nang is swiftly emerging as a prime destination for Middle Eastern tourists seeking privacy and luxurious experiences. With its inviting climate, stunning beachfront resorts, upscale villas, Halal services, luxury cruises, seaside golf courses, and distinctive cultural-historical sites, Da Nang provides everything that travelers desire.
As the scorching summer heat in the Middle East intensifies the demand for refreshing getaways, Da Nang stands out as the perfect escape. The renowned friendliness and hospitality of the Vietnamese people, combined with an expanding system of standardized tourism services, position Da Nang as the ultimate choice for family holidays and extended summer vacations for Middle Eastern travelers in 2025.
PROACTIVE PREPARATION – DA NANG ACCELERATES READINESS WITH STRATEGIC MEASURES
In anticipation of welcoming tourists from the Middle East and CIS countries, particularly following Emirates’ announcement of a new route commencing on June 2, 2025, Da Nang City has proactively implemented a range of strategic measures. These include:
– Developing and distributing comprehensive travel guides that provide market insights, service guidelines, and innovative tourism products specifically designed to cater to Halal tourists.
– Organizing training programs for tourism personnel focused on Islamic culture and hospitality skills aimed at enhancing the quality of service for Middle Eastern visitors.
– Elevating marketing and promotional initiatives to attract international tourist markets through the introduction of new air routes.
On April 30, 2025, during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sun Group to collaborate on joint marketing and promotion campaigns. This partnership aims to position Vietnam as a premier destination within the Emirates’ extensive global network. The two sides are also planning familiarization trips for media and travel agents from key markets to showcase Vietnam’s diverse tourism offerings.
To ensure safety and high service standards for the forthcoming flights, Da Nang International Airport has collaborated with Emirates to evaluate and enhance operational areas. This includes the implementation of automated immigration systems (Autogate) and improvements to rescue and emergency response operations, thereby ensuring the utmost safety and comfort for passengers.
In 2024, Da Nang welcomed 17,429 visitors from the Middle East, predominantly from Israel, various Arab countries, and Iran. By January 2025, the number of arrivals from the Middle East had reached 3,036, representing 0.7% of the total international arrivals to Da Nang, with significant numbers from Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Turkey. Furthermore, Da Nang is actively engaging with additional potential markets, including the CIS countries (such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan), with charter flights from Astana and Almaty scheduled to operate from April to October 2025, thereby diversifying the city’s international tourist portfolio.
The introduction of the new Emirates route to Da Nang is anticipated to not only shorten travel times between the Middle East and Vietnam but also provide greater access for tourists from the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and various European markets linked via Dubai, including the UK, France, Germany, Russia, and Thailand. This development is expected to catalyze a new wave of tourism from the Middle East and Europe, significantly benefiting Da Nang’s tourism sector, bolstering the city’s image as an attractive destination, and supporting its objectives of market diversification and enhancement of service quality for international visitors.
