As the summer season begins, Danang’s tourism industry continues to record positive growth across key indicators, from visitor arrivals and tourism revenue to market connectivity and destination promotion activities.

Beyond the encouraging figures, May 2026 also witnessed the vibrant expansion of festivals, events and multi-touchpoint communication campaigns, bringing Danang closer to domestic and international visitors. Highlights of the month included the Danang Food Tour Festival 2026, IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam, the 22nd Hoi An – Japan Cultural Exchange, the Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026, and a wide range of cultural, sporting and entertainment activities held throughout the city. These events not only enriched the destination’s tourism offerings but also contributed to extending visitor stays and enhancing travel experiences.

Within this dynamic landscape, every journey to Danang has become more than just a trip—it is an opportunity to discover, connect and experience the unique values that define the destination. Expanding “touchpoints” through festivals, culinary experiences, coastal tourism products and international promotional activities continue to create new appeal for Danang during the peak travel season.

These results indicate a continued trend toward longer stays and deeper travel experiences, contributing to greater economic value and a broader tourism impact across the city.
International Markets Continue to Diversify

China ranked second with over 75,500 visitors, representing 10.6%, followed by India with more than 64,100 visitors, accounting for 9%.

Taiwan (China), Japan, Australia, the Philippines, Thailand, the United States and Russia continued to maintain stable growth, contributing to a diverse and balanced international visitor portfolio. Notably, the Russian market recorded more than 28,600 arrivals during the month, reflecting positive momentum following intensified market promotion efforts and enhanced air connectivity.
The diversification of source markets is strengthening Danang’s resilience to market fluctuations while broadening its reach to a wider range of traveller segments.

A notable milestone was recorded on 23 May 2026, when the first direct flight from Moscow (Russian Federation), jointly operated by Anex Vietnam and Vietjet Air, landed in Danang carrying 377 passengers, establishing an additional direct connection between the city and the Russian market.
In addition to air travel, inland waterway tourism welcomed approximately 251,000 visitors, while railway passenger arrivals exceeded 125,130. These diverse visitor flows continue to shape a multi-layered tourism landscape, offering a wide range of experiences from leisure travel and cultural exploration to coastal tourism and specialised travel products.
Specialised Tourism Segments Continue to Create Added Value
Alongside overall growth, specialised tourism segments continued to achieve positive results.

Golf tourism recorded approximately 26,375 rounds played during May, up 2.4% year-on-year. Wedding tourism continued to attract and consult for four international wedding events.
MICE tourism welcomed 21 groups with nearly 9,147 delegates, including more than 6,800 international participants. These segments not only diversify Danang’s tourism portfolio but also contribute to higher visitor spending, longer stays and enhanced destination value.
Tourism Revenue Maintains Double-Digit Growth
The increase in visitor arrivals and length of stay continued to generate positive momentum for tourism-related services.
In May 2026, revenue from accommodation and food services was estimated at VND 6.066 trillion, up 27.5% compared to the same period last year. The cumulative figure for the first five months reached approximately VND 25.965 trillion, representing an increase of 20.1%.

These revenue indicators continue to reflect rising visitor expenditure and the growing effectiveness of Danang’s integrated ecosystem of tourism products, services and events.
Strengthening Destination Visibility Through Multi-Touchpoint Promotion and Communications
Alongside visitor growth, May was also a vibrant period for destination marketing, promotion and communication activities.
A key highlight was the successful organisation of the Danang Food Tour Festival 2026 from 20–24 May, featuring a diverse range of culinary, cultural and entertainment experiences that created new touchpoints for visitors exploring the city.

Danang also partnered with AirAsia to conduct destination promotion activities during the AirAsia Concert at Ariyana Convention Centre Beach Garden; organised the seminar “Reaching Chinese Visitors Through Xiaohongshu and Social Media”; and welcomed a CIS famtrip delegation as part of efforts to expand access to potential international markets.

Preparations for upcoming international promotional programmes were also carried out, including tourism promotion activities in Tokyo, participation in a tourism exhibition in Osaka, and destination marketing initiatives in South Korea.
Across digital platforms, the Danang FantastiCity ecosystem continued to expand through content and promotional activities on its website, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok channels, as well as international online travel platforms such as Agoda, KKday, Xiaohongshu, Naver, Douyin and Yango. AI-powered applications, VR360 experiences, digital tourism data platforms and the Auto Guide system on the Tourism Cyclo Tour – Discover Danang programme also continued to be developed to enhance visitor experiences and improve access to destination information.
Expanding Touchpoints for the Peak Tourism Season
From visitor growth and tourism revenue to destination promotion and market connectivity, May 2026 reflects a tourism landscape that continues to evolve in a more diverse, immersive and experience-driven direction.

As the summer travel season enters its most vibrant period, supported by major international events such as the Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026, the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV), and a series of promotional programmes across key international markets, Danang continues to expand new “touchpoints” along every visitor journey.

Each festival, event, experience and market engagement activity not only enhances the appeal of the destination but also contributes to spreading the spirit of “Return to Origin”—a journey where travellers can reconnect with nature, culture, people and the distinctive values that make Danang a truly unique destination.
