The summer rains could not extinguish the passionate energy at the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival – DIFF 2025; instead, they ignited anticipation for the thrilling third competition night on the banks of the Han River. With 10,000 seats filled, the audience witnessed an awe-inspiring showdown between two pyrotechnic giants – Canada and China.
Under the theme “The Path of Unity”, and sponsored by Sun Group in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Da Nang City, Night 3 of DIFF 2025 was a breathtaking celebration of light and emotion. Teams from two continents, each rich in diverse cultures, united to illuminate Da Nang’s skyline in a beautiful expression of fireworks. This universal language sparked a shared sense of connection among spectators from around the globe, enriching the cultural experience of everyone present.
CANADA LIGHTS UP DA NANG WITH A SHOWER OF EMOTIONAL “STARDUST”
Opening the evening was Orion Fireworks from Canada, presenting their showpiece, “Star Dust – The Magic Starlight”. The performance unfolded like a cosmic symphony, inviting the audience on a celestial journey through sparkling meteors and shimmering starlight. Each layer of fireworks bloomed softly, simulating constellations – sometimes falling gently like a meteor shower, other times swirling in formations that evoked the beauty of the universe in motion.
The tempo gradually intensified, reaching its climax with vibrant bursts of red, gold, and emerald green erupting like a galactic supernova. Color palettes were masterfully choreographed to musical pieces such as “Power of Love” and “Never Give Up on Your Dreams,” blending seamlessly into a multisensory experience that was not only visually spectacular but also emotionally resonant. As promised by the Canadian team, Star Dust was filled with dreams, emotions, and magical undertones—leaving the audience both thrilled and inspired, evoking a sense of deep emotional connection.
A TRIUMPHANT RETURN FROM DIFF 2024’S RUNNER-UP – CHINA
If Canada took viewers on a journey through the stars, then Jiangxi Yanfeng Fireworks – the DIFF 2024 runner-up from China – chose to convey a powerful emotional narrative grounded in Eastern philosophy and legend. Their performance, “Journey to the West – A Side Story”, was infused with a single iconic track: Dare to ask where is the road, the poignant closing theme from the 1986 Journey to the West TV series. This cohesive soundtrack enriched the entire display with deep meaning and emotion.
Showcasing custom-developed pyrotechnic effects, the team brought to life extraordinary color-shifting fireworks that danced gracefully in the sky, reminiscent of scenes from a mythical tale. The impressive precision and intricate visual arrangements captivated the crowd, reaffirming China’s status as a global leader in fireworks.
This performance transcended mere visual spectacle – it conveyed a story without words, reflecting inner conflict, longing, and destiny. Mr. Hoang, a tourist from China, remarked, “I just arrived in Da Nang yesterday. I heard it rained heavily a few days ago, but today’s weather was so refreshing. The fireworks paired with the music were stunning. I’ve never experienced a fireworks festival this incredible before.”
A NIGHT OF CONNECTION – THROUGH MUSIC, FIREWORKS, AND DIGITAL WONDER
Despite earlier weather challenges, both teams exhibited intricate, emotive, and technically polished performances—truly embodying the spirit of “The Path of Unity”. DIFF 2025 elevated the celebration beyond fireworks.
The live concert at the Ngu Hanh Son Stage was a vibrant celebration of sound and motion. Featuring Vietnamese pop icon Noo Phuoc Thinh, Meritorious Artist Phuong Anh, boyband TV, and hundreds of artists from Vietnam and abroad, the show became a masterfully choreographed musical experience that energized the riverside crowd.
Meanwhile, Sky AR outdoor augmented reality technology left a remarkable impression. From the Opening Ceremony onward, this interactive feature received enthusiastic responses—especially from younger audiences. Sky AR strengthened the connection between spectators and the festival, showcasing Da Nang’s progressive embrace of digital tourism experiences.
DIFF – A SUMMER CATALYST FOR DA NANG’S TOURISM BOOM
Now reaching its peak, DIFF 2025 captivates audiences night after night. After 12 editions, the festival has welcomed nearly 11 million visitors and contributed significantly to the local tourism economy, with a value of almost VND 38,000 billion.
With fresh competitors, renowned artists, and innovative technology like Sky AR, each summer transforms into an unforgettable celebration of Da Nang’s cultural vibrancy.
