Screenwriter Trinh Thanh Nha has officially joined the Jury for the Vietnamese Film Competition at the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV).
Trinh Thanh Nha is one of the most distinguished female screenwriters of Vietnam’s Đổi Mới (Renewal) era. She first gained recognition with her debut screenplay, A Fairy Tale for the Age of Seventeen, which was developed from her graduation project and went on to win the Best Screenplay Award at the 8th Vietnam Film Festival in 1988.
The success of her debut marked the beginning of a prolific writing career, leading to numerous notable works, including Breaking the Curse, The Bodhi Warrior, Love Trap, as well as many feature film and television screenplays. Her works often explore the complexities of human life, psychological depth, and social issues through a sensitive and emotionally rich perspective.
In addition to her creative work, Trinh Thanh Nha has made significant contributions to the development of Vietnamese cinema through teaching, professional mentoring, screenplay evaluation, and supporting generations of young screenwriters. After decades of dedication to the film industry, she continues to write, conduct research, and actively participate in professional activities.
She has served as a jury member at the 17th Vietnam Film Festival in Phu Yen in 2011, the Vietnam Cinema Association’s Golden Kite Awards, the National Television Festival, and several editions of the Vietnam Film Festival.
With decades of experience in screenwriting, script evaluation, and mentoring, Trinh Thanh Nha is expected to bring profound professional insights and valuable expertise to the Vietnamese Film Competition Jury at DANAFF IV.
