Director Nguyen Quang Dung has officially joined the Jury for the Vietnamese Film Competition at the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV).
Nguyen Quang Dung began his career as a screenwriter before moving into directing, eventually becoming one of the leading figures in contemporary Vietnamese commercial cinema. He is widely recognized for his ability to balance entertainment, emotional storytelling, and commercial appeal, creating films that resonate with broad audiences while maintaining a distinctive creative voice.
Over more than two decades in the film industry, Nguyen Quang Dung has made his mark across a wide range of genres with acclaimed titles including Kiss of Death, which won the Best Screenplay Award at the 2007 Golden Kite Awards; Brilliant Kisses, for which he received the Promising Director Award at the 17th Vietnam Film Festival; The Lady Assassin; Go-Go Sisters; Blood Moon Party, which earned him the Best Director Award at the 2020 Ngoi Sao Xanh Awards; Song of the South; and My Love Mistake.
His filmmaking style is distinguished by accessible storytelling, contemporary pacing, and a strong focus on audience engagement, while consistently preserving his personal touch in creating emotional depth and cinematic atmosphere. Many of his films have achieved both commercial success and widespread cultural impact, contributing significantly to the growth of Vietnam’s film market over the years.
Through more than twenty years of creative work and continuous exploration across different genres, Nguyen Quang Dung is regarded as one of the directors who has helped shape the landscape of modern Vietnamese commercial cinema.
