On August 1, 2025, Da Nang’s tourism sector officially marked a significant milestone by welcoming the 1 millionth Korean visitor of the year – affirming the close-knit and sustainable development relationship between Da Nang and the key international market of South Korea over the past decade.

From a Single Flight to a Leading Strategic Market
Fourteen years ago, the first flight from Seoul (South Korea) to Da Nang, operated by Asiana Airlines, opened a new journey of exchange and connection between the two destinations. Soon after, Korean Air joined in, quickly making South Korea one of the three largest international markets for Da Nang since 2012, maintaining the top position since 2016.
From just one airline in 2011, there are now 12 airlines operating direct flights between South Korea and Da Nang, including Air Busan, Jeju Air, T’way Air, Eastar Jet, Air Seoul, Jin Air, Aero K, Air Premia… along with Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air. The total flight frequency has increased 22-fold, from 7 to 150 flights per week, making South Korea the international market with the densest air network to Da Nang.
Remarkable Growth Through the Years
During the strong growth phase (2015–2019) and the post-COVID-19 recovery phase (2023–2025), international tourist arrivals to Da Nang experienced robust growth (reaching 120%–130%). Particularly, the South Korean market doubled in visitor numbers and has consistently led in international arrivals to the city.
This achievement is the result of close coordination between the local government, ministries, diplomatic policies of both countries, and especially the active contributions of airlines, tourism enterprises, and Korean travel companies, who have proactively promoted, built suitable tour products, and continuously connected with local partners.
At the event, Da Nang City held a solemn welcoming ceremony for three special guests:

These guests were warmly received and presented with meaningful gifts, including:
- Da Nang City People’s Committee Leader: Presented sashes as a warm welcome from the city.
- Representative of the Embassy of South Korea in Vietnam: Presented congratulatory floral garlands to the Korean guests.
- Leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism: Presented souvenir gift bags and vouchers for signature tourism experiences in the city.
- Vietnam Airlines: Awarded two round-trip tickets (South Korea – Da Nang) to the 1 millionth Korean visitor to Da Nang in 2025.
- T’way Air: Awarded one round-trip ticket (South Korea – Da Nang) each to the 999,999th and 1,000,001st Korean visitors to Da Nang in 2025.
Additionally, the program also welcomed 7 lucky Korean visitors, who received: Fresh flowers, souvenir gift bags and service vouchers, and hand-painted traditional conical hats.
These gifts are not only material tokens but also symbols of appreciation, hospitality, and the long-term connection between Da Nang and Korean tourists.
