According to information from the Organizing Committee of the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF IV), Mr. Julien Rejl will join the Jury Board for the Asian Competition section of this year’s festival.

The participation of Julien Rejl is considered a notable professional highlight as DANAFF IV continues to expand its connections with regional and international cinema. With experience working in various roles including film selector, curator, and critic, Julien Rejl is expected to bring valuable perspectives on film selection, contemporary cinema trends, and the ways films are approached within the international film festival environment.
In his curatorial perspective, Julien Rejl believes that cinema is not limited by the boundaries between fiction, documentary, and animation, but that all are equal forms of expression. Speaking with Cineuropa about the 2026 film selection, he shared that he always aims to balance pioneering arthouse cinema with the ability to connect with audiences, while prioritizing works with strong individuality that create surprise and renew audiences’ approaches to contemporary cinema.
For Julien Rejl, cinema is not only about works that have already been recognized, but also about the “possibilities” waiting to be discovered. Before taking on the role of Artistic Director of Directors’ Fortnight, he served as an international sales and distribution executive at Capricci from 2010 to 2020. During this period, he collaborated with renowned filmmakers such as Abel Ferrara, Hong Sang-soo, Albert Serra, Wang Bing, and Tsai Ming-liang.
