BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2022 will bring a world-class golf experience to Vietnamese golf fans.
1. This is the first time an event of the Asian Development Tour come to Vietnam
In the past, Vietnam has been the destination of many major golf tournaments under the Asian Tour system. These include tournaments such as the Carlsberg Masters 2004 and 2005 or the Ho Tram Open 2015, the event with the participation of the world’s top golfers such as Robert Rock, Darren Clarke, Sergio Garcia, Geoff Ogilvy, Thomas Bjorn. However, since then, there have not been any more international tournaments.
BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2022 is under the Asian Development Tour system.
BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2022 will be a tournament to help Vietnamese golf fans satisfy their thirst for world-class golf experiences. This is also the first time that a tournament under the Asian Development Tour system has chosen the “S-shaped country as a stopover”. This is a great honor and also the result of the unremitting efforts, as well as the cooperation of the whole community in developing golf in Vietnam.
2. BRG Danang Golf Resort is going to be a tough pill to swallow for golfers
For the first time, the BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2022 will take place on the Nicklaus Course of the BRG Danang Golf Resort. Designed by Nicklaus Design, the course features the typical embankment design of golf courses in Florida, USA, with extremely complex terrain on the green.
BRG Danang Golf Resort promises to bring many challenges.
The greens here are designed to make it difficult to read. In addition, they always tend to slope outward on all four sides, making the approaching shot even more tricky. It is expected that the green speed will be adjusted by the referees to 10 to 10.5 feet during the official competition days.
Also, the area around the green will also cause golfers a lot of trouble. The grass growing against the green will make golfers’ club get “stuck” easily, making shots more difficult to control.
At the tournament, Nicklaus course will be adjusted from Par 73 to Par 72 with a total length of 7,363 yards, in which the 10th hole is usually a Par 5 hole will be adjusted to a Par 4 hole with a length of 502 yards.
3. Gathering 115 talented golfers around the world
The first time taking place here in Vietnam, BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2022 is going to welcome the participation of 115 talented golfers from 17 countries around the world. There are prominent golfers such as ADT 2017 champion – Pannakorn Uthaipas, world number 421 golfer – Chen Guxin or the golfer who is currently leading the ADT 2022’s Order of Merit – Chonlatit Chuenboonngam.
This is considered a great opportunity for Vietnamese golfers to compete with gifted golfers from all over the world. Along with that, the talents of Vietnamese golf will have a general view of how a regional professional tournament will be organized and took place to prepare for the future.
4. The total prize money is up to 75,000 USD
The golfers will compete in 3 days of competition at BRG Danang Golf Resort, with the Top 50 golfers and draw on the chart after finishing 36 holes will make the cut and join in the final round and compete for a prize of 75,000 USD. The champion of BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2022 will receive 13,125 USD (approximately more than 300 million VND) equivalent to 17.5% of the total fund of of the tournament. Meanwhile, the runner-up of the tournament will receive 8,625 USD (approximately 200 million VND).
