Amid moss-covered streets, timeworn tiled roofs and the warm glow of lanterns at dusk, Hoi An Ancient Town unfolds as a living heritage space—where every step allows visitors to touch the cultural layers accumulated through centuries of history.

For travelers, an entrance ticket is not merely a formality to visit historical sites. It is also a meaningful contribution to preserving and promoting the value of the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Hoi An Ancient Town. From ancient houses, assembly halls and museums to traditional art performances, each experience offers an emotional journey where the past and present blend harmoniously within the rhythm of a living heritage city.

Experiences unlocked by the entrance ticket

Currently, visitors can choose between two types of entrance tickets, each offering different experiences depending on their travel time and exploration preferences.

With the 80,000 VND ticket, visitors can stroll through the shared space of Hoi An Ancient Town, where lantern-lined streets, historic wooden houses and traditional shops create the distinctive cultural landscape of what was once one of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant trading ports. This ticket allows visitors to enter one iconic heritage site – either the Japanese Covered Bridge or Quan Cong Temple, and choose two additional cultural attractions from the remaining sites in the heritage system.

For those who wish to explore more deeply, the 120,000 VND ticket offers a richer experience. In addition to wandering through the ancient town and visiting either the Japanese Covered Bridge or Quan Cong Temple, visitors can access Hoi An’s museum system and select three additional cultural sites from the list of attractions. This option is ideal for travelers who wish to spend more time discovering the historical depth, architecture and cultural life of this heritage city.

Throughout the journey, visitors not only encounter historic structures but also feel the pulse of local life through exhibition spaces, stories of the former trading port, and traces of the cultural exchange between East and West that shaped Hoi An’s distinctive identity.

Cultural highlights along the heritage journey

Beyond the heritage sites themselves, the ticket also opens opportunities to experience a range of cultural and artistic activities held daily within the ancient town.

One of the most popular highlights is the traditional art performance program, where folk songs, traditional dances and ethnic musical instruments recreate the cultural atmosphere of Hoi An through generations. Performances take place daily at 10:15, 15:15 and 16:15.

From 7 March 2026, the performance venue will be relocated from 66 Bach Dang Street to Hoai River Square – 01 Cao Hong Lanh Street, Hoi An Ward (2nd floor hall). The change aims to upgrade facilities and provide audiences with a more comfortable cultural experience.

Another refined cultural experience is the Japanese tea ceremony demonstration at the Japanese Cultural Exhibition House (06 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street). The demonstrations take place daily at 09:30 and 16:30, offering visitors a glimpse into the cultural exchanges between Japan and Hoi An during the trading port era.

When night falls, Hoi An reveals yet another enchanting side—vibrant, lively and full of emotion. The evening streets transform into spaces for community cultural activities such as Bai Choi folk games, traditional games, folk singing sessions and street performances of traditional musical instruments. These experiences are not only entertaining but also allow visitors to feel the authentic spirit of local culture—perfectly reflecting the essence of a journey that seeks to “return to origin.”

Pedestrian streets – Where visitors embrace the rhythm of heritage

To preserve the heritage environment and enhance the visitor experience, Hoi An operates pedestrian and non-motorized vehicle zones during specific hours.

Within the Ancient Town area, pedestrian hours are from 09:00 to 21:30 in summer and 09:00 to 21:00 in winter.

On Phan Chau Trinh Street, pedestrian hours are from 17:30 to 21:30 in summer and 17:30 to 21:00 in winter.

During these periods, visitors can leisurely wander through the streets, take photos with Hoi An’s iconic yellow walls, enjoy street food, step into charming heritage cafés, or simply immerse themselves in the gentle atmosphere of a living heritage city.

Important notes for visitors

Visitors only need to purchase the ticket once, and it can be used throughout their stay in Hoi An for up to three days. After visiting the heritage sites included in the program, visitors are advised to keep the ticket stub for convenient access when entering or exiting the ancient town.

For groups purchasing eight tickets or more, the management board will provide complimentary tour guide services, helping introduce the history, architecture and cultural values of the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Hoi An Ancient Town, as well as the attractions included in the program.
