Da Nang Downtown – one of the most iconic entertainment destinations in Da Nang – will bid farewell to the city of Han River starting from September 3, 2025, to make way for a completely new transformation.
Having opened since 2014 and undergone several name changes, Da Nang Downtown (formerly known as Asia Park) has been part of the journey to reshape the face of Da Nang City for 11 years. The Sun Wheel – ranked among the world’s top 10 largest Ferris wheels and fondly dubbed “the eye of Da Nang” by locals, the citadel gate designed by world-renowned architect Bill Bensley, and numerous thrilling outdoor rides… have become familiar images for many visitors to Da Nang over nearly a decade. From an airplane window, the first and last image that tourists see of this city by the Han River is always that giant wheel.
Da Nang Downtown has completed its mission during a transformative period when Da Nang has emerged as Asia’s leading festival and event destination. According to the latest announcement from the management board of Da Nang Downtown, this complex will cease operations and say goodbye to residents and visitors, preparing for a new identity that promises to become a new symbol worthy of the city’s stature.
Ms. Phung Pham Thanh Thuy, Director of Da Nang Downtown, shared: “Closing the park is not the end – it is a beautiful farewell, making way for a new symbolic project, worthy of the position and aspirations of Da Nang City in a new era – the era of national resurgence.”
Accordingly, from now until the end of September 2, 2025, will be the final chance for Da Nang locals and tourists to revisit once-famed icons of the city such as the Sun Wheel, the iconic Asian check-in corners, and outdoor record-breaking thrill rides like Queen Cobra, Drop Tower…
Especially on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2), Da Nang Downtown will launch a series of vibrant activities. The park will be adorned in the red hues of the national flag and echo with revolutionary music throughout the holidays.
On August 30, the Sun Wheel Square will host a talent competition for MCs and Kpop Kids performances with the participation of 200 young talents. On August 31 and September 1, the Random Dance competition will take place at the same venue, featuring attractive prizes. Random Dance has long been a symbolic playground associated with Da Nang Downtown, and this will also be the final gathering spot for Da Nang’s dance talents. Moreover, on the exact day of September 2, 2025, Da Nang Downtown will present the “Vietnam Beauty and Melody” Music Show and a street carnival parade with national flags at the VUI-Fest market area.
As a token of gratitude to all visitors who have accompanied Da Nang Downtown for over a decade, the park will offer a special promotion for students: the “All-in-one” ticket priced at only 150,000 VND – a 40% discount from the listed price – valid until August 29, 2025.
This “powerful” ticket grants unlimited access to rides on the giant Sun Wheel for panoramic views of the city, all outdoor games, and the unique architectural sights throughout Da Nang Downtown. To enjoy this offer, visitors must present a valid student ID when purchasing tickets at the booth. In case of no student ID, visitors may present a photo wearing a school uniform.
Beyond its exciting recreational activities, cuisine has always been an indispensable part that makes Da Nang Downtown a well-known culinary hotspot in the city. The night market VUI-Fest draws food and culture lovers with over 50 stalls offering food, fashion, handicrafts, and souvenirs. VUI-Fest delivers a lively yet intimate space where street art blends with youthful music and surprise mini-shows. In addition to the night market, guests can also enjoy meals at Panda restaurant – boasting the most exclusive night views of Da Nang. Open daily from 6 PM to 10 PM, Panda is the perfect stop for a culinary journey across Vietnam.
There is only about one month left to reunite with the “old friends,” the familiar check-in corners at Da Nang Downtown that have accompanied this city for over a decade. If you have ever had a beautiful moment here, do not miss this final reunion. We shall say goodbye – only to, not far from now, welcome a new and even more brilliant symbol, walking hand-in-hand with Da Nang into a new era – the era of a strong and rising nation.
