The 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam will take place in Da Nang from May 9 to May 11, celebrating 10 years of IRONMAN in Vietnam. As Da Nang celebrates its 50th anniversary, the race has been officially renamed IRONMAN 70.3 Da Nang — a tribute to the city that has defined the event’s legacy and inspired a new era of endurance sport in Vietnam.
Da Nang, Vietnam, April 15th, 2025 – Sunrise Events Vietnam is thrilled to announce the upcoming 10th-anniversary celebration of IRONMAN in Vietnam at the region’s largest multi-sport festival, set to take place from May 9th to 11th, 2025. This year’s theme, “A Decade of TRIumph – Where Every Finish Line is a New Beginning,” marks 10 years of the sport’s growth, inspiring future athletes and highlighting Vietnam as a premier endurance sports destination. Organized by Sunrise Events Vietnam (SEV) under the direction of the People’s Committee of Da Nang City and supported by the Danang Department of Culture and Sports and other government departments and agencies, this year’s event celebrates a significant milestone in Vietnamese sports history.
Adding to the significance of this year, Minh Long joins as the Presenting Sponsor of the 2025 edition, marking its own 55th anniversary. This partnership represents a powerful convergence of heritage and endurance—uniting two icons that embody excellence, resilience, and a shared ambition to elevate Vietnamese pride on the global stage.
From its inaugural year in 2015, when 1,012 athletes embraced the challenge, the event has witnessed extraordinary growth in participation, culminating in a remarkable 2,800 athletes in 2024. This dramatic increase is not merely an impressive statistic; it’s a testament to the event’s growing appeal, the increasing accessibility of triathlon, and the passionate community it has fostered. This growth underscores Vietnam’s emergence as a premier destination for endurance sports, attracting athletes from diverse backgrounds and skill levels, both locally and internationally.
The impact of IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam extends well beyond the event’s conclusion, functioning as a crucial economic engine that has contributed over USD 55 million to the local economy in the past decade. This substantial contribution is a direct result of the event’s ability to attract thousands of participants, spectators, and support staff, all of whom contribute to the vibrant tourism ecosystem of Da Nang. The event’s role as a driver of sports tourism is undeniable, sparking growth in the hospitality, retail, and transportation sectors. The economic influx has generated employment opportunities, enhanced local enterprises, and reinforced Da Nang’s standing as a premier destination for international sporting events.
The Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa in Da Nang, Vietnam, will once again be the Venue Sponsor for the IRONMAN 70.3 event. With stunning views of the East Sea and lush tropical grounds near the athlete transition area, this location delivers a unique beachfront finish. The Hyatt has provided a superb setting for the event over the past decade. Da Nang’s natural beauty and rich culture create an ideal backdrop, encouraging participants to engage with both the competition and local attractions. Join us for a weekend of athletic excellence and cultural celebration featuring esteemed Vietnamese and international athletes showcasing strength and resilience.
“The partnership between Da Nang and the IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam event has been crucial in boosting the city’s tourism and overall image. This event has elevated Da Nang’s international profile as a premier sports tourism destination. It has also delivered significant economic benefits to local service, food, and hospitality businesses. The marked rise in athlete participation, especially among Vietnamese athletes, underscores this event’s considerable impact. We are committed to nurturing this legacy by embracing world-class events that enhance Da Nang’s vibrancy and highlight the beauty and dynamism of our city to a global audience,” stated Mr. Nguyễn Trọng Thao, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports.
“As Minh Long marks its 55th anniversary, we are proud to accompany IRONMAN 70.3 Da Nang in its 10-year milestone – an iconic convergence of endurance and heritage. Just as each ceramic masterpiece tells a story of Vietnamese culture and craftsmanship, every triathlete tells a story of willpower, passion, and perseverance. We believe this convergence of enduring values lays a strong foundation for preserving, honoring, and elevating Vietnamese identity on the global stage.” – Mr. Ly Huy Sang, CEO of Minh Long I Co., Ltd.
“The collaboration between Newborns Vietnam and IRONMAN has had a transformative impact on healthcare, especially for our youngest and most vulnerable citizens. This partnership began ten years ago with the donation of our initial incubators. It has since expanded to include extensive nationwide medical training initiatives and is essential to our shared mission of saving lives. The ongoing support from Sunrise Events Vietnam has enabled us to train healthcare professionals nationwide, positively affecting countless lives. Our ‘IRONMAN babies’ and dedicated relay teams, driven by the motto ‘Every baby matters,’ embody Nelson Mandela’s belief that ‘Sport can create hope where once there was only despair.’ We extend our sincere gratitude for this partnership as we collectively pursue a healthier future for all children in Vietnam.” – Suzanna Lubran, Executive Director of Newborns Vietnam.
A decade ago, we brought IRONMAN to Vietnam with the belief that endurance sports could unlock untapped potential, not just for athletes but for the nation itself. As we celebrate 10 years of IRONMAN in Viet Nam, we see the same resilience, ambition, and growth that define this event reflected in Vietnam’s trajectory. I firmly believe that Vietnam has the capability to rise as a top 20 global economy in the next two decades, and platforms like IRONMAN play a role in that journey—fueling a culture of perseverance, excellence, and global connection. This milestone is not just a celebration of the past but a starting line for the next chapter of Vietnam’s growth and success.” – Bang Trinh, Co-founder of Sunrise Events Vietnam.
The 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam allows athletes to compete for 30 qualifying slots for the 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Marbella, Spain. As a true multi-sport festival, the IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam will also feature the SUNRISE SPRINT Vietnam, a shorter-distance triathlon comprising a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer cycling segment, and a 5-kilometer run. This event is designed especially for new participants, offering an excellent opportunity for individuals to test their abilities or to prepare for more demanding distances.

These races encourage the next generation of athletes to choose a healthy and more active lifestyle. Additionally, the Newborns Vietnam Run Out charity fun run will inaugurate the athletic activities of the three-day festival, aimed at raising awareness for newborns requiring critical medical assistance.
The IRONMAN Village will serve as the central hub of race weekend, bringing athletes, spectators, and industry-leading brands together in a vibrant environment.
