Public sector employees nationwide will have 9 days off work beginning on Saturday, and many travel agencies in Da Nang are taking advantage of the expected increase in demand for travel by launching various new tours.
Saigontourist is running a promotional programme until 10 March offering various reasonably priced tours for its customers. Anyone booking one of their tours will be entered into a lucky draw to win a 5-star luxury Japan-South Korea-China cruise for 2 people.
Meanwhile, the city’s branch of Viettravel is offering numerous attractive overseas tours to Dubai, Japan, South Korea and Thailand, departing from the city from 9 February.
The Bien Ngoc travel company has introduced many tours such as ‘Welcome in the Vietnamese Tet Festival’, ‘Welcome in Lunar New Year in Ha Giang Province’, ‘Travel to 4 Western Countries’, and luxury packages to celebrate Tet in the USA, Australia and Japan.

According to representatives from some local travel companies, the volume of bookings over the Tet period is likely to increase significantly compared with the same period last year. In addition to tours to Nha Trang, Da Lat, Sa Pa and Ha Long, there are increasing numbers of bookings to Kien Giang Province’s Phu Quoc Island thanks to its newly-opened safari park and Vinpearl entertainment complex.
The Deputy Director of the city’s branch of Viettravel, Mr Duong Quang Binh, remarked that Da Nang is one of the must-see destinations for visitors from both home and abroad during Tet thanks to its civilised tourism environment and beautiful landscapes. In addition, visitors now find it easier to fly to and from the city thanks to the newly-opened international routes.
Da Nang is expecting to welcome 212,837 domestic and foreign visitors during Tet, up 16.5% compared with the same period last year. Of these, 18,870 are expected to be foreign air passengers from 175 flights into the city, up 29% against last year.
