Tourist arrivals up by 8.9% during National Day holiday

Public sector employees nationwide have 3 days off work for this year’s National Day (2 September), which has helped visitors stay longer in the city than last year’s holiday period.

According to owners of some local hotels, most of their hotel rooms have been fully occupied during the holiday.  The main reason is thought that some of the city’s hotels have offered slight discounts on their room rates or their spa and massage services to attract more guests.

Mr Nguyen Duc Quynh, Deputy General Director of the Furama Resort Danang, said “Over the past 2 days, the rooms in my resort have been fully occupied.  In addition, Furama Resort is offering 50% off on its villa room rates for local residents at the price of only 6 million VND per night between 1 and 4 September.  Most notably, guests have the opportunity to enjoy traditional Vietnamese musical performances whilst trying delicious dinner buffet at unchanged prices during the holiday at the Furama Resort.”

The Director of the Song Han (Han River) Hotel, Mr Le Tuan, remarked that around 90% of his hotel rooms have already been booked.  The guests are mainly business travellers, and tourists from such foreign countries as South Korea and Japan.

According to a spokesperson for the municipal Department of Tourism, Da Nang is likely to have welcomed an estimated 35,000 visitors during the 3-day break holiday, up 8.9% compared with the same period last year.  Of this figure, the number of foreigners is expected to have increased by 14.3% to an estimate of 14,000, whilst domestic visitors are predicted to have risen by 5.6% to an estimated 21,000.

During the holiday period, the average room occupancy rates in local 1 – 5 star hotels is estimated to be 48%, a rise of 5% against last year.

During the 3-day break holiday, the number of visitors to local tourist attractions is likely to have reached over 78,000, an increase of 6.2% against the same period last year.

According to the Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Tourism Beaches, Mr Nguyen Duc Vu, the peninsula and tourism beaches were relatively crowded on 2 and 3 September.  Of this, the number of foreigners who went swimming at local beaches went up by around 10% in comparison with the same period last year.

On Friday, the city’s Marble Mountains Tourist Area received more than 4,400 visitors, over 1,200 of whom were foreigners, up 45% against last year.

The Beer Festival 2016 (B’estival 2016) took place at the Ba Na Hills Resort between 26 August and 2 September.  The festival helped to attract a large number of visitors to this tourist attraction.  In particular, around 20,000 tourists from both home and abroad visited the Resort on 1 and 2 September.

At the Asia Park, a new attractive game called ‘Golden Sky Tower’ which is the highest free fall tower in Viet Nam, was officially opened to the public on 2 September.  Around 10,000 visitors participated in the new game on 2 and 3 September.

In attempting to ensure the safety for local residents and visitors during the holiday, management boards of the city’s tourist attractions have made great efforts to ensure security and environmental sanitation. Importance has been attached to ensuring food safety and hygiene, and the quality of tourism services for visitors.
