The tourism industry aims to welcome 8 million international tourists in 2014

On January 8th, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism held the conference to summarize the work in 2013 and to deploy plans in 2014. At the Conference, the National Administration of Tourism set a target to welcome 8 million international tourists in 2014 (up to 5,64 % compared with 2013) and to serve 37.5 million domestic visitors (up to 7,14 % compared with 2013), and the total revenue from the tourism is estimated 230 trillion VND (up to 15 % compared with 2013).

According to the report of the National Administration of Tourism: In 2013, Viet Nam tourism industry welcomed and served 7,572,352 international tourists, 35 million domestic visitors, total revenue from tourism gets 200 trillion dong with the corresponding growth rate compared to 2011 is 10,6 % , 7,7 % and 25 % .

The majority of tourism markets increased over the same period in 2011, namely: Russia has the most increasing rate with 71,1 %, followed by China with 33,5 % , Thailand at 19,3 % ; New Zealand increased by 16,3 %, Indonesia: 15,7 %, Belgium: 14,1 % and Malaysia 13,5 %.

Many localities achieved impressive results as: Ha Noi welcomed 16,577,700 tourists, up 15,15 % compared with 2011, in which international tourists reached 2,580,900, the total revenue from tourism get 38.500 billion dong; Ho Chi Minh City in 2013 welcomed 4,109,000 international tourists, up to 8,1% compared with 2011, revenue from tourism reached 81.970 billion dong, up to 15 % over the same period.

Besides, many big tourism events and festivals to promote the image and the tourism were held in Viet Nam and abroad, including : the National Tourism Year of Red River Delta – Hai Phong in 2013 themed “Red River civilization” , the International Conference on spiritual tourism; Carnaval Ha Long with the theme ” colors of Quang Ninh – convergence and spread ” ; Da Nang International Fireworks Competition 2013; the 5th Quang Nam Heritage Itinerary Festival and we participated in many international tourism fairs as: Travex 2013 in Laos, MITT in Russia, ITB in Germany, the International tourism Fair in Guangzhou, China; CITM in Kunming, WTM in UK, JATA in Japan …

With the aim to uphold effectively advantages, potentials and take opportunities to maintain this growth, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism set targets in 2014 to welcome 8 million international tourists (up to 5,64 % compared with 2013) and to 37.5 million domestic tourists ( up to 7.14 % compared with 2013), the total revenue from the tourism estimates 230 trillion dong ( up to 15 % compared with 2013 ).
