From the practical needs of local people
According to the tourism sector, in recent years, annual average growth rate of tourists coming to Da Nang reached 22%. In 2013, Da Nang city has received over 3,1 million visitors, including more than 743.000 international tourists, tourism revenues reached over 7.784 billion VND.
Meanwhile, Can Tho aims to attract more than 1.3 million visitors, an increase of 4% compared to 2013, with the revenue of 1.100 billion VND, an increase of 13.4% including 300.000 international visitors. The need of international tourists is to have a flight from Central to Mekong Delta to explore the western provinces.
However, Da Nang and Can Tho have not taken advantage of all potential connection between two destinations. One of the “problems” is high travel costs and wasting time in transfer. “Da Nang is the center of the world heritage road connecting Hue, Hoi An and East-West economic corridor; meanwhile, Can Tho is considered as the capital of the western provinces. These two cities can become the connecting point to others provinces. However, locals people and visitors have to take up to 25 hours by bus to reach the destinations”. Representative of Da Nang Center for Tourism Promotion said.
With potential tourism development and economic exchange, the need to travel by airplane between Can Tho and Da Nang is quite urgent. Vietjet Air begins operating new air route Da Nang – Can Tho from July 22nd 2014 with the frequency of 3 round trips per week, the flying time of about 1 hour and 30 minutes. The flight depart from Da Nang at 11h and arrive in Can Tho at 13h30. The return flight has departure time at 14h from Can Tho and arrival time at 15:30 in Da Nang. This air route provides nearly 1.100 seats per week to meet the needs of passengers.
