In addition to a new VIP terminal covering an area of 4,200m2, the airport will have its existing 10,000m2 passenger terminal expanded to serve 9 million passengers a year.

A new international terminal will be built on an area of 21,000m2 with a capacity of 2 – 4 million passengers annually. Construction is scheduled to start early next month and is expected to be completed by the end of the 1st quarter of 2017 in preparation for the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, which is being held in Da Nang in October 2017.

The 11,200m2 administration area will feature working areas for medical quarantine workers, customs officers, border security and police forces, and the aviation port authorities. There will also be areas of 13,000m2 for ground equipment maintenance, 3,000m2 for fire fighting services, and 7,000m2 for aircraft maintenance. The existing area providing aviation fuel will remain unchanged.

Such items as lighting, drainage, wastewater treatment and green tree systems at the airport will be upgraded to ensure good aesthetics and a friendly environment.
