Although there was only 01 day off for Western New Year, and it was quite cold, many tourist attractions in the country were still significantly crowded. At Phu Bai airport, the Thua Thien – Hue Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a welcome celebration and gave gifts to the first 20 guests in New Year’s Day. These guests were from Hanoi via the Vietnam Airlines flight.
According to the Thua Thien – Hue Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the estimated number of visitors to Hue City during the New Year holiday nearly 8.000, of which nearly 70 % are foreign tourists.

In the afternoon of same day, the representative of the Da Nang department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also welcomed 253 Japanese tourists on flight VN9303 of Viet Nam Airlines from Narita to this beach city. This was also the first international tourists visited Da Nang on the first day of new year .
Early morning of the first day 2014 , Hoi An City , Quang Nam welcomed 21 first international tourists from Germany to visit the old town.
At 9 AM on 1st January 2014, at Chua Cau stage, the representative of the Quang Nam department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Hoi An’ authorities welcomed the first tourists delegation held by a domestic travel agent to Quang Nam.
Mr. Stefan Hueter, visitor in the first delegation, expressed: “Having traveled many places but this is the first time I went to Hoi An. I’m thrilled to be welcomed by the unique musical repertoire, given gifts and joined with the locals playing folk games. I will share my comments with friends to come to Hoi An more”.
This year, the western new year festival is in the middle of the week so most of Ho Chi Minh people cannot go far, they mainly concentrated on shopping and entertaining in the city.
