On Sunday evening (30 April), an imposing opening ceremony of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2017 officially began at 8.30pm, and it attracted thousands of local residents and visitors.
Present at the ceremony were Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Xuan Anh and Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, and representatives from national government agencies and the authorities of Da Nang and other Vietnamese localities, plus invited international guests.
During his opening speech at the event, Chairman Tho remarked that the Da Nang authorities and the Sun Group have made great efforts to upgrade the 2-day Da Nang International Fireworks Competition (DIFC) into the 2-month-long DIFF. Most notably, this year’s event features international-standard fireworks performances and a wide range of exciting support activities in the beautiful and hospitable seaside city.
Entitled ‘Toa Sang Ngu Hanh Son’ (Shining Marble Mountains), this year’s event involves 8 teams which have won many top prizes at international fireworks competitions around the world. Chairman Tho, therefore, expressed his strong belief that DIFF 2017 would be successful, thereby helping Da Nang secure its position as ‘Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination’ title with which it was honoured at the World Travel Awards (WTAs) Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony 2016.
Also at the ceremony, the spectators enjoyed an enchanting musical show involving hundreds of artistes from nationally-renowned arts troupes. Most notably, a fascinating performance entitled ‘Toa Sang Ngu Hanh Son’ (Shining Marble Mountains) by dancers from Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City’s Phuong Viet Dance Troupe left a good impression on the spectators.
The opening ceremony was then followed by the amazing displays by the Da Nang-Viet Nam and Austria teams.
