The workshop “Coffee briques making” at Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang
Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang has launched an inspiring series of workshop titled “Coffee Briques,” which focused on recycling used coffee grounds into fuel. The first event took place on 29 May. The event attracted many guests, staff. It was a collaboration between Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang and Diversey – a global company specializing in professional hygiene solutions and a pioneer in sustainable initiatives such as recycling, energy conservation, and community-focused coffee reuse programs. The workshop aimed to convert used coffee grounds into biofuel – a sustainable alternative to traditional firewood and charcoal.
Beyond protecting the environment by reducing organic waste and deforestation, the project holds significant community value: the produced Coffee Briques are distributed to mountainous regions where access to clean fuel remains limited. This provides an affordable, health-friendly, and eco-conscious energy source.

During the hands-on workshop, participants learned each step of Coffee Briques production—from mixing coffee grounds with a binder, compressing into briquettes, to drying. Thanks to their high natural carbon and coffee oil content, these briquettes burn more efficiently than conventional charcoal, producing a stronger flame, higher heat, and less smoke.
This workshop reflects the long-term sustainability vision of Fusion Resort & Villas Da Nang, and Fusion Hotel Group – going beyond raising environmental awareness to inspiring meaningful action. It’s a small but powerful initiative that begins with something as simple as a cup of coffee. The workshop program is held free of charge every month and welcomes all hotel guests and local visitors to participate. Through the end of the year, the resort will be collecting contributions to benefit the community.
