The Da Nang Cathedral was constructed in 1923.

Visitors to Danang can enjoy the serene beauty of the world’s most exquisite beaches, explore rich historical sites and religious structures, and admire the unique architecture of the churches.

The construction of the Da Nang Cathedral in 1923, overseen by priest Louis Vallet, resulted in a nearly 70-meter-high architectural marvel. Da Nang Cathedral – Rooster Church beautifully embodies the Gothic style with its soaring lines and rose-shaped doorways. Inside, visitors can appreciate the artful arrangement of paintings and statues depicting biblical scenes in the Western Catholic Church’s artistic style. Additionally, behind the church lies a stone grotto of the Virgin Mary, modeled after the grotto in Lourdes, France.

The church is known by several names: Tourane Church, Rooster Church (owing to the cockerel image on the pinnacle, symbolizing the French Gaulois rooster), and officially since 1963 as the Cathedral of Danang Diocese. The Rooster Church was honored with a medal by the Holy See. When visiting Danang, tourists can also explore the unique features of other churches in the city, such as Phu Thuong Church, Hoa Ninh Church, Tung Son Church, Protestant Church, and more.
