GRAND OPENING MANILA (PHILIPPINES) – DANANG FLIGHT ROUTE 2023

On December 7, 2023, flight 5J 5756 confidently landed at Da Nang International Airport, bringing 177 eager tourists from Manila, Philippines, to explore and enjoy the tourism services of Da Nang city.

After conducting extensive market research and surveys, Cebu Pacific Air has recently launched regular flights between Manila (Philippines) and Da Nang. The airline will operate three flights a week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, using A320NEO aircraft with a capacity of 188 seats. It’s worth noting that Da Nang is the third city in Vietnam that Cebu Pacific Air has chosen to operate direct flights to, following Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

A welcoming program was held at the International Arrival Terminal of Da Nang International Airport to celebrate the inaugural direct flight from Manila, Philippines, to Da Nang City. Esteemed leaders from the Da Nang People’s Committee, Department of Tourism, Central Airport Authority, Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, Da Nang City Tourism Association, Da Nang City Tourism Development Promotion Fund, Cebu Pacific Air, and representatives from prominent press agencies graced the occasion with their presence.

The program featured a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the flight route and captivating art performances. Moreover, all passengers on the first flight can receive souvenir vouchers for a complimentary service experience at Sky 36 and an enchanting Ao Dai show, courtesy of the Department of Tourism. It’s worth noting that three fortunate passengers on the flight were awarded round-trip air tickets for the Manila-Da Nang route of Cebu Pacific Air.

As per the statements given by Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, the Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee, the Philippines has emerged as a promising and potential market for the tourism industry in Da Nang. The successful organization of the Routes Asia 2022 Forum has resulted in the introduction of a direct flight from Manila to Da Nang, a practical outcome of the collaboration between Da Nang and Cebu Pacific Air. This collaboration has contributed to the recovery and diversification of international markets in Da Nang. The new route is expected to create favorable conditions for the exchange of passengers between the two markets.

The Department of Tourism in Da Nang City is thrilled to organize a grand welcome for famtrip, presstrip, and Filipino KOL delegations, marking the launch of the new Manila – Da Nang travel route. This initiative is a unique opportunity for these groups to explore and evaluate the tourism products and services in Da Nang and connect with tourism businesses in Da Nang. The ultimate goal is to develop tourism packages that cater to the preferences of Filipino tourists and promote Danang tourism to tap into the Philippine market effectively.

MORE INFORMATION

A recent report from the Department of Tourism reveals that the number of visitors served by accommodation establishments is expected to rise significantly in 2023. Specifically, the report indicates that the total number of visitors will reach over 7.4 million, double the number compared to 2022 and 93% more than 2019. Furthermore, international visitors are projected to reach over 2 million, representing a four-fold increase compared to 2022 and a 62% increase compared to 2019. In addition, domestic arrivals are expected to rise to over 5.4 million, a 69% increase compared to 2022 and a 113% increase compared to 2019. The report also projects revenue from accommodation, travel, and catering to reach over VND 28 trillion, a 67% increase compared to 2022 and a 133% increase compared to 2019.

As of December 7th, 2023, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company – AHT has reported that 16 regular international routes are operating to Da Nang. These routes include Bangkok, Chiang Mai (Thailand), Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Taipei, Kaohsiung (Taiwan – China), Macau (China), Hong Kong (China), Siem Reap (Cambodia), Incheon – Busan – Daegu – Cheongju – Muan (South Korea), Narita (Japan), and Manila (Philippines). The road from Manila to Da Nang will begin operating on December 7, 2023. The frequency of international flights will reach 45-50 flights per day.

The Philippines has over 109 million people and is a high-spending country in Southeast Asia. In 2021, Filipinos’ outbound travel was worth US$3.42 billion, and their overseas travel rate increased by 160% in 2022. The Philippines welcomed 4.88 million foreign visitors in the first 11 months of the year. Korea was the leading market, followed by the US, Japan, China, Australia, Canada, Taiwan (China), and the UK. Vietnam ranked 14th with 62.8 thousand visitors. Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport is the main entry point, with 37,000 international flights and 7.2 million passengers connecting the Philippines to other countries.

In October 2023, the Da Nang Department of Tourism joined forces with the Da Nang Tourism Development Promotion Fund to organize the Danang Tourism Introduction Program in Manila, Philippines, to promote and attract visitors to the Philippine market. The event was a resounding success, and it garnered the attention and interest of nearly 150 esteemed guests, including distinguished tour operators, travel services, and members of the Philippine press.

During the Danang Tourism Introduction Program in Manila, esteemed businesses from both nations had the unique opportunity to connect and exchange valuable information about their products, markets, and services. Furthermore, the Department of Tourism enjoyed showcasing the finest city products, including resort tourism, entertainment, cuisine, shopping, event festivals, MICE, and golf tourism products.

It is noteworthy that Da Nang is the third city in Vietnam that Cebu Pacific Air has chosen to open routes. This indicates the airline’s commitment to enhancing tourism cooperation between our two great nations. The airline already operates two routes, namely Manila – Hanoi (with a frequency of 07 flights/week) and Manila – Ho Chi Minh (with ten flights/week).
